Hugh Jackman was all smiles at the 2025 Gotham Awards — and his new romance is likely one reason why, as girlfriend Sutton Foster joined him on the red carpet.
Jackman, 57, wore a classic black suit as he and Foster, 50, stepped out in New York City for the annual film awards show. Foster, meanwhile, matched her boyfriend, wearing a sequin black slip dress for the occasion with sparkling high heels. The actress pulled her hair back in a low bun and added a little glitz with her dazzling earrings.
Jackman stars in the biographical musical Song Sung Blue alongside Kate Hudson as characters Mike and Claire Sardina, respectively. The pair portray a duo who perform in the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder. For their work in the film, Jackman and Hudson, 46, are being honored with the inaugural Gotham Musical Tribute at the ceremony.
“Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman deliver performances in Song Sung Blue that are at once powerful, intimate, and deeply human,” Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, said in a statement “Their connection on screen, and the soulful way they bring this true story to life, channel the timeless music of Neil Diamond while revealing their own artistry and spirit. It’s a film that reminds us how music can uplift and inspire — and we’re thrilled to celebrate their extraordinary artistry with our new Gotham Musical Tribute at this year’s Gotham Film Awards.”
Foster has been supporting Jackman amid his Song Sung Blue press tour, as they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on October 26. The pair posed for photos together on the red carpet in coordinating black outfits, with huge smiles on their faces to match.
The following month, Jackman made his relationship with Foster Instagram official. The Wolverine actor shared a video and a photo of Foster during her performance at New York City’s Café Carlyle on Wednesday, November 26, captioning the post, “@suttonlenore performing during the holidays at @cafecarlyle … now that’s an iconic NYC night! And, truly magical.”
Jackman and Foster costarred in Broadway’s The Music Man from 2021 to 2023. The Greatest Showman star announced his separation from Deborra-Lee Furness after 27 years of marriage in September 2023. Their divorce was finalized in June.
Foster, for her part, filed for divorce from husband Ted Griffin in October 2024, days before their 10th wedding anniversary. Their divorce proceedings are ongoing.
Us Weekly confirmed in November 2024 that Jackman and Foster were officially dating, with a source telling Us their connection was the “reason Hugh and Deb got divorced.” Furness opened up about her life post-split this summer.
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness told the Daily Mail in May. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
She continued, “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.”
