According to a new study, New York’s neighbor across the river has even more holiday spirit than the Big Apple itself.
After ranking cities in America with the most Christmas activities per square mile, MRI Software, a real estate software and services provider that tracks and forecasts footfall across retail destinations, found that Jersey City is one holly jolly place to be this December.
With 69.4 festive activities per square mile and 1,460 seasonal things to do in total, Jersey City is a little winter wonderland.
Wilmington, Delaware, came in second place with 65.2 activities per square mile and 1,120 in total, followed by another New Jersey city, Newark, which came in third with 58 activities per square mile —15,000 in total.
The top five is rounded out with Dover, Delaware, in fourth place and Frederick, Maryland, in fifth.
New Jersey and Delaware both have two cities in the top five, while New Hampshire has two cities in the top 10 — Nashua in sixth place with 27.7 events per square mile, and Manchester in eighth with 24 per square mile.

“Our Christmas Hotspots Index provides some great insight into how different cities are preparing for one of the peak trading periods in the retail calendar,” Cedrick Johnson, Brand and Communications Leader at MRI Software, said in a statement.
“New Jersey and New Hampshire in particular are states that we expect to be popular tourist attractions with high footfall due to having multiple cities in our top 10 Christmas hotspots.”
