Brian Austin Green is recovering after being hospitalized for a perforated appendix.

Green, 51, took to Instagram on Monday, April 14, to reveal his health status.

“Hey everybody,” he said in a video. “I know I haven’t been here for a while. So last week, I started feeling some pain in my stomach and ended up going to the emergency room and I had a perforated appendix. Not quite burst, but just before it [was going to].”

He continued: “I went to a couple different emergency rooms in the Valley around where I live — it was really, really crowded, so I ended up leaving. I went to the emergency room for Providence-Cedars Sinai and they were fantastic. … They got me in right away, got me right into surgery. The after-care was phenomenal. I mean, when I tell you every single person that was there was incredibly kind and loving and supportive and helpful, I mean it.”

He concluded his message with more praise for the hospital’s medical team.

“When you find a great place, with really great people, they deserve a shoutout,” he said. “So that’s what I’m doing. So, everyone at the hospital: Thank you so much for everything that you did in taking care of me. I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first surgery — first major surgery.”

Days before his health scare, Green was spending quality time with his kids. The actor — who’s engaged to Dancing With the Stars alum Sharna Burgess — was included in an Instagram carousel posted in early April 7 by Burgess, 39, who shared a photo of their blended family eating ice cream together. Green and Burgess struck a pose alongside their 2-year-old son, Zane, as well as Green’s three children — Noah, 12, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 8 — whom he shares with ex-wife Megan Fox. (Green is also the father of son Kassius, 21, with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil.)

Green and Fox, 38, have maintained a healthy coparenting relationship since their 2021 divorce. Earlier this year, Green told Us Weekly exclusively that Fox went through a tough time during her breakup with Machine Gun Kelly in December 2024 — just weeks after announcing that she was pregnant with her first child with the rapper. (Fox and MGK welcomed their daughter together last month.)

Brian Austin Green is sticking up for pregnant ex-wife Megan Fox as she goes through “an incredibly tough time” following her split from Machine Gun Kelly. “She’s an amazing mother, though. “She’s an amazing mother, though. She loves her kids,” Green told Us at a book launch party in February, adding, “I think as parents, we forget that we are raising future adults. We’re not just raising the kids that we have. Eventually, they’re going to grow up and they’re going to move out, and they’re either going to be positive members of society or they’re not. A lot of that is based on the choices you make.”

Green and MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, have been feuding since late last year, when Green told MGK to “grow up” before Fox gave birth to the pair’s baby.

Green told Us that he views his own behavior as a direct influence on his children. “The choice that you have is how it affects your kids. Whether it is a negative situation where you are constantly fighting, you’re at each other, you’re disagreeing about everything, the kids feel like they’re stuck in the middle,” he said. “Or you make it a loving experience where they get the absolute best of it, and you act like adults. It’s not that hard.”
