Well, here we are again — but this time less tears have been shed.

Spoilers for The Last of Us below.

Tommy Miller (Gabriel Luna) digs the knife in deeper as viewers are still getting over Joel Miller’s (Pedro Pascal) death in the opening scene of The Last of Us season 2, episode 3, which aired on Sunday, April 27.

“Give Sarah my love,” Tommy says while sitting next to his brother’s body, referring to his niece, whose death in the first-ever episode of The Last of Us set the entire story in motion.

Ellie, meanwhile, is in the Jackson hospital receiving treatment when she wakes up and starts screaming — seeing a vision of Joel’s death. Following a three-month time jump, she gets released from the hospital and returns to the Miller house for the first time.

Slowly, Ellie enters Joel’s room, which doubled as his workshop, before breaking down in tears while burying her face in one of his shirts. Dina (Isabela Merced) enters the home, and Ellie quickly hides her grief.

Dina has a rather awkward moment with Ellie, admitting that she has been lying for the past three months — she knows the names and location of Abby and her crew. Dina reveals that they are working with the Washington Liberation Front, a militia group in Seattle.

They take the information to Tommy who wants to put together a crew of Jackson residents and head to Seattle on a revenge trip (more or less). Following a Jackson town council meeting — and rather moving speech from Ellie — the trip gets turned down.

Ellie, who by now we should know will not take no for an answer, packs up her stuff for a trip to Seattle. She plans to take the trip by herself. Dina, knowing her best friend better than anyone, comes with supplies and the two head of on horseback in the dead of night. (A heartfelt moment among the chaos shows Ellie leaving coffee beans on Joel’s grave.)
