Julia Fox didn’t dress up as Jackie Kennedy as a costume.
Fox, 35, explained her dress-up moment after fans criticized her look via Instagram on Friday, October 31. For a Halloween party, Fox wore a bold Jackie Kennedy-inspired look from the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Her outfit featured a pink tweed jacket with gold buttons and a matching skirt, which was covered with fake blood. She teamed the look with a blue scarf and matching handbag, as well as a pink cap.
Fox’s makeup was just as daring as her outfit, with blood splattered over her forehead and cheeks.
“I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement,” she captioned photos of her look. “When her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, ‘I want them to see what they’ve done.’ The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation.”
Fox added: “Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery. It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality. It’s about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance. Long live Jackie O ♥️.”
Fox’s followers supported her look in the comments section, writing, “Okay the caption saved it for me- not everyone has this type of mindset.” A second added, “Love the historical pov you’re giving with the caption,” while a third commented, “This is such a beautiful message 💖.”
The actress’s explanation came after people were confused about her look, which she debuted on Thursday, October 30, at a party.

“Of all the costumes one could wear, of all the moments one could emulate, why this one?” one questioned via X. Another commented, “People defend it as art,’ but some things just shouldn’t be turned into costumes.” A third agreed, “I was like ‘what’s wrong with her costume,’ then I saw the blood. And my mouth dropped.”

Fox previously honored another historical figure while out and about in London. While walking through the city, she rocked a corset featuring a portrait of Princess Diana. The rest of her look featured ribbons tied in bows on her shoulders and a pleated lace skirt, which was pinned to her leather belt. She accessorized with white boots, a leather purse featuring the United Kingdom’s flag printed on it. She tied her getup together with a bow clipped in her hair and strings of pearls wrapped around her neck.
Fox’s Jackie Kennedy look isn’t the first risqué outfit she’s worn. Earlier this month, she looked cool in a decorated naked look at the FGI Night of Stars event in New York City.
Her outfit consisted of a nude silhouette with silver and olive leaf-like embellishments. Fox complemented her getup with black eyeliner swept under her eyes and a clear purse.
