Dr. Heavenly Kimes revealed that her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, knew about son Damon Jr.’s arrest — and chose to hide it.

“It’s unfortunate, but baby, you can’t keep no secrets from me … like you don’t ever tell me anything,” Dr. Heavenly, 55, told Dr. Damon, also 55, during the Sunday, December 7, episode of Married to Medicine. “If I had to learn about my son being arrested on social media, what else is out there?”

Earlier this year, Damon Jr., 28, was indicted for alleged felony aggravated assault on a police officer during a 2023 altercation. In August, the case was placed on judicial hold, and Damon Jr. was ordered to complete community service and mental health counseling. (In addition to Damon Jr., Dr. Heavenly and Dr. Damon share son Zachary, 24, and daughter Alaura, 20.)

In a confessional, Dr. Heavenly opened up about the moment she discovered her son’s legal issues.

The cast of Married to Medicine is back in business and ready for a brand-new season. On Sunday,  November 30, Dr. Jackie Walters, Dr. Simone Whitmore, Dr. Contessa Metcalfe, Toya Bush Harris, Quad Webb, Dr. Mimi Sanders and Dr. Heavenly Kimes will reunite for season 12 of Bravo’s hit reality show. “When I first found out the news about Damon Jr. on Twitter, my heart dropped,” she recalled. “Y’all don’t know the feeling it would take to see your son being arrested, My son, I love him so much.”

Dr. Heavenly reiterated to Dr. Damon that they “can’t have” any “secrets” as a couple. Dr. Damon shared it was “not a secret,” to which Dr. Heavenly reminded him that he “didn’t tell” her when it happened.

In a joint confessional, Dr. Damon told the camera, “it wasn’t like months or years went by,” but Dr. Heavenly interjected that she found out “years later.” Dr. Damon thought he had told his wife what happened at some point, but Dr. Heavenly maintained that was not the case.

“Well, either way, I did what I did and if anyone has an opinion on it they can say whatever they want,” Dr. Damon said.

The scene then cut back to Dr. Heavenly and Dr. Damon’s conversation about the issue. Dr. Damon shared his side of the story.

“I knew that it was something I could take care of,” he explained.

Dr. Heavenly replied, “But you didn’t take care of it in a sense that I’m finding out about it years later on social media.”

Dr. Damon stayed quiet, which led to Dr. Heavenly asking if he knew where Damon Jr. was now.

“So where is he now? Why did he leave? Was it something I did?” she asked.

Dr. Heavenly explained that when she did find out about Damon Jr.’s arrest, she didn’t have the most ideal initial reaction.

“When I heard the news, I probably got too angry with my son … I don’t remember what I said, but there probably was a lot of cussing, a lot of profanity there,” she reflected. “He just got his stuff together, and he left the house, and I haven’t physically seen him in months.”

Dr. Damon shared that “sometimes things happen that we don’t want to happen,” which led to Dr. Heavenly asking him if he could make Damon Jr. “come home and see his mommy?”

Married to Medicine’s Dr. Contessa Metcalfe is still looking for the right prescription to mend her friendship with Dr. Heavenly Kimes. “It ebbs and flows, right? We’re both Type-A personalities. We’re just both bulls in a China shop,” Contessa, 38, exclusively shared with Us Weekly earlier this month. “It’s going to always be this kind […]

“No, I can’t. Only God can. I don’t know why he feels the way he does, but I’m going to respect that,” he told his wife, who started to get visibly upset. “When he does come home, I’ll be there ready to hug him.”

Dr. Heavenly added, “I miss him so much … he’s my sweetheart.”

Last month at BravoCon 2025, Dr. Heavenly exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about how difficult it was to film season 12 of the reality show amid her family’s troubles and political aspirations.

“Listen, my son got arrested, I’m running [a political] campaign,” she told Us. “I’m running for Congress, and it was just a lot of personal issues. It was a very difficult season for me this year.”
