Mary Bonnet didn’t agree with the way Chrishell Stause reacted to former friend Emma Hernan‘s boyfriend Blake Davis on season 9 of Selling Sunset.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Mary, 45, explained why she found Chrishell’s clear disdain for Blake unfair to Emma, 33.

“In my opinion, I think as a friend if you have somebody going through something like that you need to be there for them and be the safe space,” Mary said about Emma’s complicated romance. “You don’t desert a friend in their time of need and you definitely don’t try to humiliate them by going public and telling all their secrets.”

Mary noted that Chrishell, 44, should have pulled Emma aside to voice her concerns. “That [public reaction] was uncalled for and very cruel,” Mary argued. “I asked her why because I don’t get it. I’ve always loved Chrishell and I just don’t understand the reasoning for that. But people do things for different reasons.”

Emma and Chrishell’s friendship was a story line on season 9, which was released on Wednesday, October 28. On screen, Chrishell made it clear that she didn’t think Blake was right for Emma, who went back and forth on whether she wanted a future with her then-boyfriend.

While Emma and Blake split during the season, their breakup was short-lived and based on social media, the couple is currently back together. Emma’s friendship with Chrishell, meanwhile, has seemingly hit pause after the latter accused Blake of using a racial slur.

“Ask her about her MAGA bf who told me pronouns are dumb,” Chrishell wrote via Instagram in May. “I just can’t with that. Too old to allow that in. But love her from afar.”

Blake, for his part, later shared DMs he sent to Chrishell as a way to reach out, but she left him on read.

Mary teased to Us that the fractures in the Emma and Chrishell friendship will get addressed at the upcoming reunion: which airs on Wednesday, November 5 .”It’s going to be just a bombshell,” Mary declared. Elsewhere in our interview, Mary shared an update on where she stands with Chrishell.

“We don’t really talk that much or anything,” she said before Chrishell took to social media to call out Mary’s comments about her feud with costar Chelsea Lazkani. “But when I love people, I always love them. I can disagree with their behavior and not like them — or not like what they’re doing or what they’re saying — but I’ve always cared for [her].”

Selling Sunset is currently streaming on Netflix.
