Sydney Sweeney couldn’t resist expressing her love for costar Amanda Seyfried while filming their new movie, The Housemaid.

The Euphoria star, 28, revealed on the Monday, December 1, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she is a huge fan of Seyfried’s role as Sophie in Mamma Mia!, which is based on the hit ABBA-themed musical of the same name.

“Did I know Amanda before this? I’m obsessed with her,” Sweeny responded when host Jimmy Fallon asked if she knew Seyfried, 39, before working together. “She knows how much I am with her. I am like the biggest Mamma Mia! fan.”

In fact, when they got together on the set of The Housemaid, Sweeney said she even coaxed her Oscar-nominated costar to film a “fun little TikTok video together,” prompting Fallon to play a clip of the duo singing along to ABBA’s “Angeleyes.”

Sydney Sweeney appears to have some involvement in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Sweeney, 27, was reportedly spotted on the set of the sequel in New York City on Wednesday, August 6. “All my dreams came true!” Sweeney said of her collaboration with Seyfried. “It was amazing.”

“I’ll play Mamma Mia! … My girlfriends and I were on a trip, and we were in Africa, and I was playing the song, we were dancing on the beach, and I sent a video to Amanda, and I was like, ‘You are forever my icon.’ Like, I love her,” Sweeney continued.

In The Housemaid, based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel of the same name and directed by A Simple Favor filmmaker Paul Feig, Sweeney stars as Millie, a troubled live-in housemaid for wealthy couple Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar). Mamma Mia! left a lasting impression in 2008 as the cast transported viewers to Greece while singing ABBA’s greatest hits — and one film just wasn’t enough. Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried captivated audiences as mother-daughter duo Donna and Sophie in the original movie. In hopes of getting answers about her father’s identity, Sophie contacts three of her mom’s former […]

“Sydney Sweeney could show up. There’s a bunch of girls that really want to be a part of it, and I’m all for it,” Seyfried told Entertainment Tonight in November about a prospective sequel.

While Mamma Mia! 3 has not officially been confirmed, Seyfried said, “Maybe I’m just naive, but I’m pretty sure Mamma Mia! 3 is a done deal.”

As for where her character, Sophie, might end up in the film, “I love portraying a mom, so I would love to see Sophie with her kids,” the actress said. “Maybe she has a cousin she hasn’t seen in a while, and that could be Sabrina Carpenter.”

Seyfried played Sophie in 2008’s Mamma Mia! and 2018 sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, starring opposite Meryl Streep as Sophie’s mom, Donna. In the original film, Sophie tried to discover the identity of her father from among three of Donna’s past love interests, Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth) and Bill (Stellan Skarsgård). In the sequel, Donna was revealed to have died before the movie flashed back to the past, with Lily James playing a younger Donna.

“I just know the three dads are going to come back, and we still won’t know who the dad is because it doesn’t matter,” Seyfried told ET. “Meryl is a ghost, obviously, so she’ll be around. And Julie [Walters] and Christine [Baranski] will be back singing and looking hot, and we’re all going to be somewhere tropical. And ABBA will be playing.”
