Underwear shopping is such a personal affair. Everyone has hyper-specific wants and needs when it comes to undies. Thinking the two were mutually exclusive, I used to choose style over comfort — every time. If underwear didn’t have the bells and whistles — think bows, lace, scalloped trim, the like — I didn’t want it.
But having to pull them out of cracks and crevices all the time started to wear on me. Instead of searching for thong and cheeky underwear styles, I started to look for bikini cuts and hiphuggers; instead of itchy lace, I opted for smooth fabrics. It’s been a year-long process, but I can finally say I choose comfort over style.
That said, every once in a while, I come across a pair that’s stylish, flattering and comfortable. I got a single pair of these On Gossamer ‘Heavenly Stretch’ undies and I can easily say they’re the most comfortable undies I own. Not only are they buttery soft, but they don’t ride up, slide down, squeeze, itch or rub. Wearing these undies feels like going commando!
Made of a nylon and spandex blend, the fabric is extra stretchy and breathable for all-day wear. The four-way stretch material is skin-soft, lightweight and smooth, perfect to wear under loose and tight clothes alike. Although the Heavenly Stretch collection isn’t labeled a no-show collection, I’ve never noticed lines when I wear these — even under tight clothes! A comfy 100% cotton gusset liner is just icing on the cake.
There are two different colors to choose from, both of which are ultra-versatile. I have the black pair, but I imagine the champagne color would act like nude underwear under white dresses, pants and skirts. (Full disclosure: I plan on ordering the champagne hue too!) And if you love the material but not the bikini style, the brand has other cuts to choose from, including high-cut briefs and thongs!
Note that it’s recommended to hand wash the underwear (separately) in cold water, so keep that in mind before tossing them in with your other clothes. Avoid machine drying them at all costs to preserve the quality and prevent shrinking. That would be an expensive mistake!
And while $20 is fairly steep for a single pair of underwear, these ones are worth it. With the holidays coming up, these undies would be the perfect fail-proof stocking stuffer for the comfort connoisseur in your life. They’re stretchy, high-quality and very practical!
