After the Philadelphia Eagles emerged victorious over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Katie Gaudreau had her late brothers, Johnny and Matthew, on her mind.

Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, grew up in Carneys Point Township, New Jersey, roughly 35 miles south of Philadelphia, and as a result were both diehard fans of the Eagles. The brothers were killed in August 2024 while riding bicycles in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, the night before Katie was scheduled to get married.

“So bitter sweet this win,” Katie wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, February 9, moments after the Eagles’ 40-22 blowout win. “I know the boys would have been so happy. I wish more than anything you guys were here to celebrate but I know you guys made this happen. Love you guys.”

Katie, who has since rescheduled her wedding for July 2025, shared the message alongside an old photo of Johnny wearing an Eagles sweatshirt during an interview.

In addition, Katie shared a collage of FaceTime screen grabs from calls she made to Johnny and Matthew’s friends after the Eagles’ big win.

After the Eagles defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game on January 26, Johnny and Matthew’s mother, Jane, posted about her late sons.

“I know two incredibly happy fans in heaven,” Jane wrote via her Instagram Story alongside a photo of Johnny and Matthew wearing personalized Philadelphia Eagles jerseys. “GO BIRDS!!!!!! Going to the Super Bowl for the boys!!! One more win.”
