Prince William revealed the quirky superstitious tradition he shares with his children while watching his favorite U.K. soccer team, Aston Villa F.C.

“If I’m home alone with the children, I probably don’t have the pre-match pint but I do have a bit of superstition about where I sit when I’m watching them,” William, 42, said in an interview with The Sun, published on Thursday, March 13.

“If we’re not doing very well, I start moving ‘round the house quite quickly and I put the children in different positions hoping that’s going to change our luck,” he added.

William shares three children with his wife, Princess Kate Middleton: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

“I’m trying not to be biased but obviously they see how passionate I am about it and they watch the matches with me. I’m trying to spread the love a little bit,” he added.

Back in January, William bought a round of drinks for Aston Villa fans at a pub in Birmingham, England, before a match.

The visit was pre-arranged by the soccer club after William asked to be put in touch with some of its biggest supporters, a Kensington Palace spokesperson previously told Us Weekly.

“I like mixing with the fans,” William told The Sun. “Anything Villa I love and they all love their Villa.”

“It’s a family within a family and I do feel part of the Villa family. This club does an awful lot — and I know lots of clubs do it too — but I particularly feel it with Villa in my life that I’m very included,” he continued.

As for Kate, the royal mom is closely involved with Prince Louis’ soccer matches. In October 2024, a fan posted photos of the royal as she supported her youngest son playing in a local soccer team.

“I was thinking, ‘Why on earth is she there?’ That’s the most bizarre thing ever,” the fan said in a TikTok video. “She looked comfortable. She looked like she didn’t have much makeup on. She was obviously trying to stay hidden with the cap and the clothing, but everyone knew it was her.”
