Rebel Wilson dropped an exciting hint about the status of Pitch Perfect 4.
“We hear rumours all the time,” Wilson, 45, told The Guardian in an interview published on Thursday, June 5. “I know Universal is developing some scripts.”
Wilson first hinted that producers at Universal Pictures were developing another Pitch Perfect installment in May 2024, though the project hasn’t received a greenlight just yet. However, Wilson remains optimistic that the long-awaited sequel will come together with enough fan support.
“The fanbase for Pitch Perfect is so awesome and keeps growing as younger people are introduced to it. So, hopefully – there’s a huge desire for another movie,” she said.
The three previous Pitch Perfect films followed the hilarious exploits of a cappella singing group The Barden Bellas, with the franchise making more than $500 million at the box office. Spinoff streaming series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin — featuring Adam Devine’s character Bumper Allen – premiered on Peacock in November 2022 but the streamer decided not to move forward with a second season.
Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick told People in November 2024 that she was optimistic about a fourth movie being made, though she said Wilson was a key component to making it happen.
“Oh, my God, I know I would love [a sequel],” Kendrick, 39, said. “I keep saying, I feel like Rebel is really like the steam engine of everything. So as long as she keeps saying it might happen, I’ll believe it.”

Elsewhere in her latest interview, Wilson reflected on some of her favorite moments from shooting the first Pitch Perfect film.
“We came together in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was like college: hanging out with my friends, having fun, not really acting,” she remembered. “For four weeks we were in boot camp, where we’d dance and do conditioning in the mornings – so sit-ups, stretching and learning the choreography. In the afternoons, we’d learn our 10-part harmonies and go into the recording studio. Sometimes we were really dorky and said: on Friday we’re all going to wear the same colour T-shirts, just to be like a squad.”
Wilson recently revealed that her family were nearly part of another iconic pop culture franchise, as her wife Ramona Agruma was recommended for the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills by friend Kathy Hilton. Wilson told The Kyle & Jackie O Show in January that she was supportive of her wife getting an RHOBH diamond, though Agruma ultimately rejected the offer.
“She’s not wanting to do it. I was like, ‘But babe, it could be fun.’ I love the show. I love reality [television],” Wilson said.
The Bridesmaids star hinted that RHOBH fans will definitely be missing out on some prime drama without Agruma joining the Bravo show — which added stylist Rachel Zoe to its season 15 cast this week.
“Ramona would be great because she really tells it how it is. She doesn’t give a crap about whatever anybody says to her,” Wilson teased.
Us Weekly exclusively reported Wilson and Agruma tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in front of “about 60” guests in Sardinia, Italy, in September 2024.
