Christie Brinkley, 71, and daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook, 27, are two peas in a dating pod.
The supermodel revealed on the Monday, August 4, episode of Kristin Davis’ “Are You a Charlotte?” podcast that Sailor conducted an experiment on a dating app to see “what kind of guys” her mom would match with, and the results were startling.
“I’m not on any kind of dating app like that, but my daughter Sailor, she’s so mischievous,” Brinkley shared.
According to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl, Sailor “put me up” on a dating app “for, like, an hour or something.”
“She said, ‘Mom, you’re right not to go on it because the same guys that said yes to me are saying yes to you,’” Brinkley told Davis, much to the Sex and the City star’s surprise.
“Oh, I love this experiment! Smart Sailor,” Davis, 60, said, describing it as a “fascinating little experiment.”
The discussion came up as Brinkley and Davis dissected a season 2 episode of Sex and the City on Davis’ rewatch podcast. In the episode, Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall) goes on a date with an older man.
The stars discussed how men of a certain age seem to prefer dating younger women.
“There’s kind of this extreme dichotomy between men who are the same age and women who are the same age,” Davis said on the podcast. “The women look fantastic, yet the men who are that age don’t want those women.”
Brinkley theorized, “I find that what men like to do is sort of find somebody that’ll be impressed by every little thing that they do. Like, ‘Oh, really? You’re taking me to that restaurant?’”
The supermodel shares Sailor with her fourth husband, Peter Cook. She is also mom to daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 39, whom she shares with second husband, singer Billy Joel, and son Jack Paris Brinkley-Cook, 30, whom she shares with her third husband, Richard Taubman. (Brinkley was first wed to French artist Jean-François Allaux from 1975 to 1981.)
In her recently published memoir, Uptown Girl, Brinkley recalled her marriage to Sailor’s dad, describing it as “one of the most tormented experiences I’ve ever had.”
The couple wed in 1996 and separated a decade later. Their divorce was finalized in 2008.
In the book, Brinkley recalled discovering Cook’s affair with an 18-year-old after the teenager’s father confronted her at a graduation ceremony. “When your whole world falls apart and you realize in a heartbeat you’ve suddenly become the cliché middle-aged woman whose husband is having an affair with a much (much) younger woman, what do you do?” she wrote. (Cook admitted to the affair in a 2008 interview with ABC News.)
