Lukas Gage has no ill will towards ex-husband Chris Appleton — or his new literary venture.
“Lukas has moved on,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, August 12, of Gage, 30, and Appleton’s dynamic post-split. “And it’s water under [the] bridge at this stage.”
During a recent appearance on TMZ, Gage made a comment about Appleton’s upcoming book, Your Roots Don’t Define You, hitting shelves in January 2026. Gage is also penning a memoir titled I Wrote This For Attention, scheduled to be released in October.
“’I’m honored to be influential on someone else’s release date of their book,” Gage quipped to the outlet, adding that the closeness of the pair’s respective release dates could be “coincidental.”
While it seemed like Gage made a dig at his ex’s expense, the insider clarified that the White Lotus alum was kidding around and meant no ill will.
“He was just being his lighthearted self, making a joke because he thought it was strangely coincidental that Chris released a book after Lukas had announced his,” the source explained. “He thought it was funny, like if Lukas now came out with a line of hair care!”
Gage and Appleton, 42, confirmed their romance in February 2023 and got engaged two months later. That same month, the twosome tied the knot in a ceremony officiated by Appleton’s longtime client and friend, Kim Kardashian.
In November 2023, Us confirmed that Appleton filed for divorce from Gage after six months of marriage. Their divorce was settled in June 2024.
Earlier this month, Appleton opened up about his personal struggles following his split from Gage.

“It was definitely the first time that I’d experienced that magnitude of people being so invested in my private life,” Appleton said on an August episode of Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast. “People have this perception from social media [that I] probably have it together. I work with these amazing people, [and my] life looks glamorous. From the outside, it probably looks like I got it all together, but the truth is, especially during that time, I was going through a lot of private pain.”
Appleton explained that therapy helped him work out his feelings about the breakup. The hairstylist shared that he’s now “out on the other side.”
“One of the biggest lessons I learned is finding alignment from what I do is all about [the] visual. It’s what I’ve done my whole life,” he admitted. “What people see of me is this visual representation of Chris Appleton. But, I think, for me, there was a real piece in finding alignment and inner peace on the inside. That wasn’t an easy process. … When you align those two, I think that’s when your real power comes into place.”
