Talk about a birthday disaster.
What was supposed to be an innocent birthday candle blowout — turned into a terrifying pyro moment.
Askin Acar excitedly gathered around his birthday cake to blow out his candles and make a wish. As family and friends lit what they thought were cake sparklers, they shockingly turned out to be fireworks.
Within seconds, chaos erupted — and partygoers ran screaming as flames shot wildly into the air.
“At first I was shocked, me and my brother both,” Askin told NeedToKnow.
“It felt a bit like a dream because I was not even thinking anymore, my body just reacted on its own like in a movie scene.”
The birthday boy laughs at the incident now but at the time, he was “really freaking out.”
“It felt like a little bit of torture but also hilarious at the same time.”
It’s unknown how the family confused fireworks for candles.
This isn’t the first time a birthday celebration involving a cake went sour.
Last month, a woman shared a hilarious video about what happened when she ordered a custom birthday cake for her co-worker from a supermarket.
It was a simple request she had for the bakery department: write “Happy Birthday Steve” on the cake.
“The kid behind the counter said ‘I’m sorry, I did my best,’” the overlay text on the video read, which has racked up over 15 million views.
What she got in return was scribbled frosting text that looked like it was written by a 6-year-old who got their hands on a frosting pen.
“Luckily, this is for an office full of adult children,” she joked in the on-screen text.
While some customers would lose their cool over this sloppy scribble job — this kind stranger made the best of it and was actually empathetic towards the nervous bakery department employee.
“he looked terrified to hand it to me cause for just about anyone else he’d of ruined a $30 cake – Everyone has to learn, but maybe they could have them practice on things that are not cakes,” she kindly wrote in the caption of the text.
Viewers lost it when they saw this video, many chiming in with their two cents in the comment section of the video.
“I think Steve will appreciate this.”
“I can’t explain why but I am so touched by this story and the cake is perfect. Maybe I need cake therapy.”
“I would actually prefer this it’s sooo funny.”
