Love Is Blind’s Milton Johnson accused his estranged wife, Lydia Velez-Gonzalez, of “cruel treatment” in their bitter divorce, weeks after she accused him of pursuing other women before their split, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On Friday, September 26, Milton, 27, responded to the divorce filed by Lydia, 34. He asked that her petition be dismissed, and he filed his own counterclaim against Lydia.
He listed the wedding date as May 31, 2022, and the date of separation as March 31, 2025.
Milton claimed Lydia was “guilty of cruel treatment” toward him of a “nature that renders further living together insupportable.”
His lawyer added, “The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between [Milton] and [Lydia] that destroys the legitimate end of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
His filing said they had no children and no community property. He asked that his legal fees be paid for by Lydia.
Lydia filed for divorce from Milton on June 10 in Texas. Her petition is not publicly available.
On September 17, Lydia asked the court for a default judgment due to Milton not responding to her case despite being served with the paperwork on June 18. He filed his answer to the divorce days later.
As Us previously reported, Lydia announced she filed for divorce from Milton on June 11. The reality star made the announcement on an episode of the “What’s the Reality?” podcast.
Lydia said, “I’ve been quiet for too long, not necessarily because I didn’t have anything to speak of, more because I wasn’t ready for other people’s opinions and judgment.”
She continued, “I have decided [to] file for divorce against Milton. It wasn’t one thing. It was a layer of situations and things that just kept piling up. When I asked him or told him, ‘Hey, I’ll let you know when the divorce papers are ready,’ his response was, ‘I’m not going to sign the papers unless there’s an NDA.’ That said enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience because I’ve been suffering in silence, [which] has been too much for me.”
Lydia said the relationship stared out “beautiful” and was like a “fairy tale.”
She said, “He showed me the kind of love that I’ve never received before. He loved me for who I was, and that was my premise of being on the show [and] being loved for who I was not and not be called ‘too much.’ Now, I am called ‘too much.’”
The exes got engaged and married during season 5 of Love is Blind.

On the podcast, Lydia claimed she started to notice Milton never complimented her or commented on her social media photos.
In addition, Lydia accused Milton of not being supportive after she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in September 2024.
“Instead of him being my support [system], he told me, ‘You’re not dying. You just have to eat healthy and work out,” she alleged. “I wanted to [take a] medical leave. I tried to talk to him and request a medical leave [from work] back in October last year and he was, like, ‘F*** no.’ I’m like, ‘But I have to do what’s best for me. I feel burnt out. I need to figure this out.’”
Lydia claimed she was no longer in touch with Milton at the time of the podcast.
“It’s been that way since March 31, the reason being [once] I asked for the divorce, he wanted an NDA,” Lydia said. “After that, he told me … [that I was] stupid and untrustworthy … I don’t think he loves me because he has given me the silent treatment for the past month. If you truly love a person, you wouldn’t do this [and] you will actually hold yourself accountable.”
Around the time Lydia filed for divorce, she accused Milton of “pursuing” other women before their split.
“Along the period [that we’ve been] married, I have received, on five different occasions, messages from women allegedly saying that he’s pursuing them at bars, paying for a woman’s drinks, heavily flirting,” Lydia said on the podcast. “I went to a wedding and one of the girls that I used to be friends with has pictures of him in California with another woman.”
