If you’re looking for new Amazon Prime Video dramas with at least 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, there were none in January.

Most of the top-ranked new additions clocked between 80 and 88 percent.

Even when diving deep into Prime Video’s library, the number of drama movies that have reached those heights can be counted on one hand.

For now, Watch With Us was able to find three Prime Video dramas with at least 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘Hoosiers’ (1986)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90

Hoosiers is loosely based on a true story, but the film is more likely to be remembered than the actual events that inspired it. In 1951, disgraced basketball coach Norman Dale (Gene Hackman) gets a second chance when a small high school hires him to take over their team.

Coach Dale doesn’t win over many converts, and he alienates popular teachers like Myra Fleener (Barbara Hershey). He also goes out of his way to help Wilbur “Shooter” Flatch (Dennis Hopper) — the drunken father of one of the basketball players — reclaim his dignity as an assistant coach on the team. This is one of the most beloved sports movies, even four decades after its debut, and that comes down to the way that Dale ultimately connects with his team and helps them go beyond their wildest dreams.

‘The Burial’ (2023)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92

Like Hoosiers, The Burial is also based on a true story, but it just isn’t as flashy as a sports flick. Tommy Lee Jones plays Jeremiah O’Keefe, a funeral home owner whose business is tanking. After making a deal with a rival funeral home owner, Raymond Loewen (Bill Camp), Jeremiah belatedly realizes that the latter is intentionally withholding the final payments to drive him into bankruptcy.

To appeal to a predominantly Black pool of jurors, Jeremiah turns to Willie E. Gary (Jamie Foxx), a personal injury lawyer who doesn’t have experience with this kind of case. Willie and Jeremiah don’t always see eye-to-eye, but their only chance to score a legal victory in court is if they can find a way to trust each other.

‘Conclave’ (2024)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93

Who knew that choosing a new Pope could be so riveting? Director Edward Berger and screenwriter Peter Straughan adapted Robert HarrisConclave, which was released just a few months before Pope Leo was named the first American Pope. While we can only imagine what went on behind closed doors, it probably wasn’t as thrilling as Conclave turned out to be.

Following the Pope’s sudden death, Cardinal Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) convenes a conclave to name his successor. Four different candidates emerge, including a progressive, a social conservative, a moderate and a traditionalist. This election is about more than just choosing a new pope — it’s about setting the tone for the Catholic church in the 21st century. And when skeletons emerge from the candidates’ closets, the decision becomes even harder to pin down.
