Any teen drama from Laguna Beach is water under the bridge for Stephen Colletti, Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad.
“We’re always rooting for each other, and it’s so great to see everybody go off and do these amazing things,” Colletti, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, March 26, while promoting Roku’s upcoming The Reunion: Laguna Beach. “If you told me back then, I think I was like, ‘I don’t know that path.’”
He continued, “But then again, years go on and you mature, and you’re able to have that perspective of life, and you realize that the people that you went through that with were kind of in the same position we were all trying to really grasp, ‘That was an odd experience [or an] odd social experiment.’”
Coletti, Cavallari, 39, and Conrad, 40, were among the stars of MTV’s Laguna Beach, which chronicled the personal lives of local Southern California teens in the early 2000s. Throughout season 1, Coletti was involved in a love triangle with both Cavallari and Conrad.
“Everything is so big when you’re 18 [or] 19 years old, especially when it comes to people learning about your life or seeing what’s going on,” he told Us on Thursday. “So, for the years to go on and to be able to mature and see just how much that it’s like, ‘Hey, look, we made some mistakes.’ Sure, you wish you could have a couple do-overs here and there, but ultimately, you’re just trying your best and you’re trying to learn and grow. We all really were, so I think we all see that within each other.”
In honor of Laguna Beach’s 20th anniversary, Colletti reunited with Cavallari, Conrad and the rest of the OG cast for an onscreen reunion.
“All coming together to shoot it, what ultimately made it onto the show, and how it was all cut to all these years later for us to be able to get together and speak about it, it is that bond,” Colletti said. “I think that in doing that show and knowing truly the experience that we went through in this pivotal moment of life where you’re moving on from high school, we allowed people to capture some of those major moments in our life and how people reacted to that in the years right after. So I think we all kind of know what that’s like, and it’s bonded us.”

As for their personal lives, Colletti, Cavallari and Conrad have all moved on from their once-dramatic love triangle. Conrad and husband William Tell share two sons, while Cavallari coparents three kids of her own with ex-husband Jay Cutler. Colletti, for his part, is currently expecting his first baby with wife Alex Weaver.
“I’ve had the privilege of witnessing my nieces and my nephew grow up … and watching the family unit that they’ve formed,” The Traitors alum said of his sister’s children. “I know with Alex, my wife, we’re gonna be able to form something similar and that opportunity to create a bigger family and the journey that that entails. I’m just super excited.”
Amidst Colletti’s excitement about becoming a father, he’s also aware that the journey will “be very challenging.”
“Right now, I’m like, ‘Dude, I think you need to really humble yourself,’ because I’m like, ‘I’m ready. Let’s do this,’” he quipped. “I know it’s gonna be crazy, but I think I truly have no idea. We’re just excited for the adventure.”
The Reunion: Laguna Beach premieres on Roku Friday, April 10.
