Michelle Pfeiffer made a surprising comment about her future in film after a string of recent TV roles.
“I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God,” Pfeiffer, 68, said during an Apple TV panel on Sunday, August 2, while reflecting on her work on Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Madison. “I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much.”
The actress shared more insight into her experience working on Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which debuted in April and also stars Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman.
“I’ve just been so bowled over by the female performances on television, and honestly, they’re just really owning TV,” she raved, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Pfeiffer continued: “I love how complicated and flawed all these characters are, and it really reminds me of that famous Robin Williams quote where he says, ‘Remember that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and be kind.’ That kind of, for me, sums up the show and the message of the show, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”
In addition to Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Pfeiffer landed a starring role on Taylor Sheridan‘s The Madison.
The show, which premiered in March, follows the Clyburn family from New York City, who “relocate to the Madison River valley of southwest Montana for emotional recovery following a tragedy that shattered the family,” per the synopsis. (A second season was already filmed before the show hit Paramount+.)
Pfeiffer leads the series, which also stars Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer and Kevin Zegers.
Rebecca Spence, Alaina Pollack and Danielle Vasinova make up the rest of the cast.
“I committed to it without even having read anything,” Pfeiffer told Entertainment Tonight in March. “It was really just him explaining the scope of the character and kind of the outline of where it was going.”
Pfeiffer, who plays Stacy, wasn’t sure about joining the project at first.
“I said, ‘Well, I’d really love to read something.’ And [Taylor] said, ‘No, I really like to cast it first and then I write,’” she claimed. “I said, ‘Well, I’d really like to read something and then I commit.’”
She continued: “We went back and forth over a couple of weeks like that, and then I realized I wasn’t going to win this argument and I was either going to have to commit or give it up.”
