President Donald Trump commended Nicki Minaj’s physical appearance during a Michigan rally speech.
“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before. Nick Minaj,” the president, 80, said into the mic at Port Huron’s McMorran Place Arena on Saturday, October 24. In footage of the moment shared by Fox News, he then gazed over at the artist, 43, before commenting further.
“That’s hard to miss. Stand up, Nicki,” he then requested before reiterating his take for a second time — “that’s hard to miss” — to an applauding crowd. The outlet then switched to Minaj, who had been seated in the audience, standing up and waving at fans.
“OK, I’m going to get back to my … sorry, Nicki, I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time,” the president continued prior to having the musician join him on stage later in the rally.
The moment’s online circulation comes after Minaj, who has long voiced her support of the Trump administration, was teased as a possible White House press secretary candidate by White House communications director Steven Cheung on Sunday, October 25. Cheung, 44, posted an X video of himself at the time with Minaj as she praised the president’s tenure and past achievements.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House press secretary!” he captioned the clip. The high-profile role remains vacant following the departure of Katie Zacharia’s five-day tenure earlier this month.
Per a report by the BBC on Sunday, Minaj’s on-stage appearance at the rally included plenty of praise for the president. “He’s given us a future to look forward to,” she told fans, adding that he has “changed the energy” of the U.S.
Dressed in a gold Gucci suit, Minaj led the crowd in chanting the president’s name before noting that this was “a major turning point for our country.”
The pop star’s address sparked further praise from the president, who commented, “She never looked more beautiful” as Minaj returned to her seat. “She gets it. She’s smart,” he added.
Earlier on Sunday, Minaj had joined the president aboard Air Force One, sharing footage from the experience via her X account. The footage captured her meeting Cheung ahead of their conversation, fixing her hair and panning the camera around the plane as she prepared for their interaction.
Last month, Minaj opened up about her support for the Trump administration during an appearance on FOX News’ The Ingraham Angle. “I am honored to be able to have an opportunity to work with this administration and to work with President Trump. He has inspired many people, not just me. And he’s, he’s fun,” she said during the September 18 interview.
She continued, “He’s not just smart, and, you know, he’s not just the president. But he’s also someone that I can relate to, someone that, you know, every time I see him, or every time I see him speaking to other people, he’s just himself. He’s very — he’s very grounded. It’s easy to connect with him. It’s easy to feel like he heard you, he understands you. And I just — I just love him. And I’m not going to ever make excuses for that.”
