The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Zac Affleck is reminiscing on his history with his estranged wife, Jen Affleck, days after she filed for divorce.
“Looking back at these clips hurts so much,” Zac, 30, wrote via TikTok on Friday, November 6, alongside a montage of throwback footage of himself and Jen, 27, throughout their relationship. “I married my dream girl, and I messed it up.”
He continued, “Jen, I’m sorry. I was supposed to protect your heart and I failed. I’m sorry for the way I spoke to you. I’m sorry for dimming your light.”
Jen and Zac, who met on Mormon dating app Mutual, got married in 2019 before welcoming three children together. The now-exes announced in June that they are expecting baby No. 4 — just months before Jen filed for divorce at the beginning of November. (Jen and Zac both state they had been discussing a separation for awhile.)
“I’m sorry I was so young and immature,” Zac continued on Friday. “I’m sorry I couldn’t make the changes I needed to, and I’m sorry I let things get to this point.”
Acknowledging his shortcomings as a husband, Zac further stressed that he hopes they can peacefully coparent their soon-to-be-four kids moving forward.
“I can’t change the past, but I can promise to keep working on myself and do everything I can to be the best father, coparent and friend moving forward,” he stated. “I want to approach this next chapter of life with nothing but love and gratitude for everything we shared. And the beautiful family we created and will continue to raise.”
Zac concluded, “Love you, lil J.”
Zac and Jen had long been candid about their marital struggles ever since Mormon Wives premiered in 2024.
“Jen came to me about a year ago after Dancing with the Stars and told me she was unhappy and wanted a divorce, and I basically begged her to stay,” the DadTok social media personality said in a TikTok video posted earlier this week, referring to Jen’s DWTS season 34 stint. “I told her [I would] work on things, become whatever she needed me to be and, ultimately, we just couldn’t make it work.”
He added at the time, “It sucks because I really do love Jen, and I still love Jen. And yeah, when I first met Jen, she had this light about her, unlike anyone I’ve ever met, and she really does have such a good heart. I will continue to support her and be her biggest fan.”
