Ben Foster has filed for divorce from Laura Prepon after six years of marriage, Us Weekly can confirm.

Per docs obtained by Us, Foster, 44, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution of the couple’s marriage. He listed their date of separation as September 9, 2023.

According to the docs, Foster asked the court to make an “equitable division” of their assets and debt, in accordance with their 2018 prenuptial agreement. He also anticipates entering their “marital dissolution agreement and agreed parenting plan” into the final decree of divorce.

Foster and Prepon, 44, were first linked in 2016 when they were spotted packing on the PDA at a restaurant in New York City. The pair welcomed their first child, daughter Ella, in 2017.

One year later, the That 70’s Show alum shared via Instagram that she and Foster had exchanged vows. “Just Married!” she captioned their photo. “Thank you for all the love and support. Wishing all of us the good stuff!”

Foster and Prepon announced the birth of their second child, a son, in 2020. “Welcoming home our new bundle of love,” she captioned an Instagram photo of her kissing the newborn’s hand. “Overwhelmed with gratitude.”

Later that year, Prepon opened up about having an abortion in the second trimester after discovering a fatal fetal abnormality that put her life at risk. During an interview with Us, she explained how she handled her “anger at my body.”

“I really started holding my body parts and telling myself, ‘I love you,’ saying, ‘I love you arms. I love you head. I love you face. I love you neck,’ going through every single body part,” she told Us at the time. “I would do this talk every day, and I meant it. I truly meant it.”

While juggling parenthood and her acting career, Prepon got candid about how she manages it all. “I really have to balance work life and mom life,” Prepon told Us in 2022 . “Parents have been dealing with it for a very, very long time, I’m sure, but that kind of balance is definitely hard.”

She added: “You figure it out and we have a great family dynamic. Thank goodness. We’ll figure it out, but that’s probably the toughest thing —being away from them when I’m at work. The guilt is just overwhelming sometimes.”

Before tying the knot with Foster, Prepon dated former costar Danny Masterson’s brother, Christopher, and Scott Michael Foster. Foster, for his part, was on and off with his former fiancée Robin Wright from 2012 to 2015.
