Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s 18-year-old daughter, Vivienne, has officially dropped her father’s last name, becoming the fourth of the pair’s shared six children to drop their dad’s famous moniker.
A Los Angeles judge granted Vivienne’s petition to legally change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie on Monday, November 2, Us can confirm.
“There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,” read court paperwork obtained by Us on Monday. “The Decree is signed and filed.”
Page Six was first to report the news.
Vivienne’s attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, appeared remotely for a Monday morning hearing, according to the outlet. Judge Virginia Keeny presided over the hearing at Los Angeles Superior Court’s Stanley Mosk Courthouse and read aloud the names of those whose name change petitions had been approved.
“These are name change petitions, which are going to be granted. That means that I can read the information provided and sign a decree, and you’ll be able to get a copy of the decree in possibly one week in Room 112 in the first floor of this building, the Stanley Mosk Courthouse,” Keeny said. “So if you hear your name, you can sign off, and you can get your paperwork in a week.”
The judge reportedly continued, “I’m going to read both the last name and also the last four numbers of the case.”
Vivienne initially filed her paperwork on July 20, eight days after she and twin brother Knox turned 18. The reason for her filing was listed as “personal” in court docs obtained by Us at the time.
“If people knew the whole truth they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them,” a source close to Jolie, 51, told Us at the time. “The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency.”
Prior to her filing, Vivienne had been using her mother’s last name publicly for more than two years. She was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders in May 2024.
Vivienne’s older sister Shiloh, 20, was the first of Jolie and Pitt’s six children to legally drop her father’s surname. She filed paperwork in May 2024, and her request was granted that August.
The former couple’s daughter Zahara, 21, followed suit in September, as did their son Maddox, 25.
Knox omitted “Pitt” from his name on his high school diploma in June, although he has not yet filed paperwork to legally make the change.
Jolie and Pitt, 62, also share son Pax, 22. The exes were married from 2014 to 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2024, although they remain entangled in a separate legal battle over their French winery Château Miraval.
