Bringing Up Bates star Erin Bates is finally going home after going into septic shock following the birth of her and Chad Paine‘s seventh baby.

“After almost three weeks in the hospital, I have never been so thankful to finally head home to our babies,” her husband posted via Instagram on Saturday, September 13, along with photos of the new mom leaving the hospital with her newborn baby. “We don’t have all the answers yet, and I still don’t have function in my right leg, but we are choosing to count every blessing—especially the gift of being together again. Your prayers have carried us through and mean the world to our family. ❤️”

Erin, one of Kelly Jo and Gil Bates‘ 19 children, and Paine welcomed their son Henry on August 25.

“After a long and emotional labor, our miracle arrived. … Henry is doing wonderful, but we would so appreciate your prayers for Erin as she continues to recover from some complications,” read a statement shared via Instagram on August 27. “We thank the Lord for carrying us through and for the gift of this precious boy. 💙.”

Days later, Paine shared a positive update on the baby’s health, but revealed Erin remained in the hospital. “We wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and support you have given on our behalf. It’s been a week since our miracle, Henry came into the world. He is doing well in the NICU and is our bundle of happiness,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Gil Bates and Kelly Jo Bates have 19 children, and for 10 seasons, their lives were documented on Bringing Up Bates. The couple tied the knot in December 1987 and welcomed their first child the following year. By 2012, Kelly had given birth to nine boys and 10 girls, without any multiples in the mix. […]

Paine’s message was accompanied by two black-and-white photos of Erin in a hospital bed. “We had asked for prayer for recovery for Erin due to complications. Her labor was longer and more intense than previous births. She has been fighting through it and has been such a light and sweet testimony of grace to nurses, staff, and doctors alike. We are all moved by her kindness and gratefulness in the midst of pain,” he continued.

Paine revealed that his wife “developed a severe UTI and kidney infection,” which caused septic shock. “She is currently still in the ICU as doctors continue to treat, diagnose, and search for answers. We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world. We are holding onto God’s promises,” he concluded.

As fans and family members sent thoughts and prayers to the couple, Paine provided more insight into Erin’s condition on September 4. “I have so many mixed emotions as I share this,” he wrote via Instagram. “Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erins infection was getting better, but we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty, and tears. She is in the ICU, and the doctors are running scans and tests to determine the cause. Erin is extremely weak and spent hours only half conscious.”

Paine added that seeing Erin “struggle” was “one of the hardest things” for him to do. “I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend,” he wrote. “The hours have been long and heavy, and I know many hearts are aching to see her this way, along with mine. We hold on to faith that healing is coming, even in the midst of the unknown. Your prayers are felt and we are forever grateful.”
