Candace Cameron Bure is prioritizing her health and strength, and fans are taking notice.
During an Instagram Stories Q&A, the Full House alum, 49, responded to a social media user that pointed out she is looking “extra toned these days,” and the actress didn’t shy away from sharing her workout secrets on Thursday, September 25.
Cameron Bure credited her sculpted physique to a dedicated fitness regimen that includes a little teamwork with her husband, retired NHL player Valeri Bure. (Candace and Valeri, 51, have been married for 29 years and share three children together: daughter Natasha, 26, and sons Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23. The couple wed in June 1996.)
“I’ve increased my weight lifting program. Heavy weights 4x a week, fine tuning and cardio 2x a week. I train with my hubby (love our gym time together) and still use @kirastokesfit app and FT training with Kira!” Candace wrote, raving over her longtime athletic coach, Kira Stokes. “She also has ‘gym time’ on the app where you can follow a heavier weighted program there.”
Stokes’ fitness method involves customized client programming and includes strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, sports specific drills, barre, yoga and pilates. She focuses on the importance of every move, such as intentional warm-ups and stretches post-workout.
“I’ve been super consistent the past year and finally seeing the changes I’ve desired,” Candace continued her post, showing off her defined biceps while using gym equipment.
Stokes, 51, previously returned the love to Candace while speaking about their incredible dynamic to Women’s Health. “She’s a blast,” the wellness guru gushed in 2023.
“When you train someone the first time, you have to both enjoy each other, right? You can be the best trainer in the world, but if you don’t connect with the person outside of that, it’s just never gonna work … We both felt that [connection] from the first session,” Stokes added.

At the time, the two were training around three times a week together. “She’ll try for five days a week. But she’s really realistic,” Stokes pointed out. “She doesn’t get mad at herself if she misses the workout. She’s very like, ‘Life is life and that’s what happens.’”
Stokes explained that her busy clients need a fitness regimen that works with their schedule and also gets results, clarifying, “You have to remember these people have so much going on in their lives that when they can get it in, they want to get it in right.”
During her recent Q&A, Candace spoke about her progress while sharing another clip where she focused on her arms, quipping that “this is my third set and my form isn’t as solid as it should be.”
When asked if she drinks alcohol from time to time, Candace kept it real and shared that she occasionally enjoys a glass of wine.
“The extra sugar won’t get my body to where I want it to go at this age,” she noted. “And honestly the night sweats are WAY worse with any kind of extra sugar. (Not talking fruit.) I’m too into this fitness journey and want to enter perimenopause in optimal shape.”
