Charles Barkley Says He’s ‘Concerned’ for Bill Belichick After Viral Interview with Girlfriend

Charles Barkley has some questions for his “great friend” Bill Belichick following his viral interview with girlfriend Jordon Hudson.

“I’m not sure what’s going on,” Barkley, 62, shared during an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday, April 30. “He’s been a great friend to me for a long time. We’ve been friends since he coached for the Browns. I think he’s got to be very careful right now. This is starting to be on a very slippery slope.”

While Barkley was quick to praise the former New England Patriots coach, 73, as “the greatest football coach ever” for the NFL, Belichick’s recent interview on CBS — where Hudson, 24, interrupted the chat — raised some eyebrows.

“From what I’m hearing, it’s starting to be a very slippery slope and I never talk about people’s personal relationships,” Barkley explained to radio host Dan Patrick. “That’s another rule I got but I’m a little concerned with some of the stuff going on, and I might actually reach out to him to make sure everything’s good.”

For Barkley — who played nearly 16 seasons in the NBA before venturing into sports broadcasting — he’s lived by the rule that reporters shouldn’t ask him personal questions.

In addition, family members don’t need to speak out because “I’m the one who’s famous.”

“I am concerned from what I’m hearing,” Barkley continued. “It’s not a good look right now, I’ll admit that.”

On Sunday, April 27, CBS Sunday Morning aired a segment where journalist Tony Dokoupil interviewed Belichick.

Hudson attended the interview with her boyfriend and appeared to interrupt every time Dokoupil asked about her.

“She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track,” Belichick said in a statement on Wednesday. “Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.”

CBS News, however, later defended the interview saying in an online statement, “When we agreed to speak to Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview. There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation. This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”

From Barkley’s perspective, he believes it’s best for family members and loved ones to stay away from the press and let the players or coaches do the talking.

“If any family member speak out, it’s just going to muddy the water and I’m a little concerned,” he concluded. “I’ll admit that because he’s my friend through good, bad and whatever and I hope everything is alright.”
