Cole Sprouse has addressed his twin brother, Dylan Sprouse, labeling them “the children of incest.”
Sharing a screenshot of the claim’s media coverage, Cole, 34, wrote via a Tuesday, October 20, Instagram Story, “No media training on earth can prep you to read this clickbait headline at 10am.”
Earlier that day, Dylan had shared details on the “Wildmen” podcast about what genealogy program Ancestry had found through mapping his and Cole’s family tree. “Long story short, Cole and I are children of incest,” he claimed after getting into the weeds of the discovery.
“It’s my dad and my mom. They had no idea. So, then I’m looking at this, and I go, ‘What the hell?’” Dylan said. “A lot of stuff started to make sense, because one of my aunts was a twin, but she was one of the twins who ate her twin in the womb, and when they cut open a cyst in her shoulder, it had teeth and hair.”
Dylan, who rose to fame alongside Cole as a child star in 1999’s Big Daddy before working with his brother in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and its spin-off series, started out by sharing that conducting the research through Ancestry allowed him to meet previously unfamiliar family members due to his father’s side being “fractured.”
Learning that both sides of the siblings’ family travelled to California during the Gold Rush era, Dylan stated that one set of relatives struck gold and moved even more of their family to the Golden State before both sides of the family were joined by marriage in the late 1800s.

“And then, they diverged, and then they married again [through] my mom and my dad, like, last generation,” Dylan continued. “I called Cole, I showed him a picture, I was like, ‘Dude, I just found out some f**king crazy s***.’ The only reason I started to get suspicious is because when I started talking to my dad’s side of the family, I found out that his uncles were identical twins.”
Dylan further explained, “I’d only ever thought that identical twins or twins in general came from my mom’s side of the family. We had seven sets of twins in four generations … because it’s the same family!”
Cole’s take on his brother’s story was followed by a second amusing Instagram Story on Tuesday night. Referring to his twin’s marriage to model Barbara Palvin, Cole wrote over a selfie, “It’s that time of the year again where I get tagged in Victoria’s Secret content cause people still don’t know who married Barbara.”
