David Hasselhoff made headlines earlier this week when he was spotted in a wheelchair at two separate airports.

“He was seen in a wheelchair because he’s having a knee replacement surgery next week,” Hasselhoff’s rep exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, May 7, after his alleged frail appearance raised eyebrows.

Hasselhoff, 72, was seen being pushed in a wheelchair on Monday, May 5, alongside airport attendants in both Cancun, Mexico, and upon his return to Los Angeles, according to photos obtained by the Daily Mail.

The pictures showed Hasselhoff in what appeared to be a somewhat frail state, which caused some fans to worry about his health. The wheelchair incident also came just two months after Hasselhoff’s ex-wife Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff died at age 62, bringing the Baywatch alum and his family back into the spotlight.

Bach-Hasselhoff died by suicide on March 5, according to the L.A. County Medical Examiner. She was found unresponsive by paramedics around 10 p.m. local time.

“Our family is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Pamela Hasselhoff,” Hasselhoff said in a statement to TMZ at the time. “We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time but we kindly request privacy as we grieve and navigate through this challenging time.”

Hasselhoff and Bach-Hasselhoff met on the set of Knight Rider when she was a guest star and tied the knot in 1989. They split in 2006 and share two daughters: Taylor, 34, and Hayley, 32.

Following her death, both of their girls spoke about the tremendous loss. “I’d do anything in the world to hug you again, my forever angel,” Taylor wrote via her Instagram Story in March, sharing a series of photos with her late mother.

“You are my best friend, my whole heart, my everything. I promise to make you proud & celebrate you every day. [My daughter] London will know how incredible you are & I promise I will protect Hayley forever,” Taylor continued. “Mama, I love you so much … the pain is unbearable but I will be strong for you & hold onto your memory until we meet again, my beautiful.”

Hayley also shared a touching social media tribute to her mom in March, writing, “Mom, last night was one of the hardest. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been a week since your passing or the synchronization of the rain tonight, just like the night of.”

She continued: “I pray that one day I can find comfort in the sound of rain again as it’ll symbolize your spirit going to heaven. For now, all I hear is my heart aching for you. My heart is shattered yet somehow feels whole knowing you will always be my best friend, my heart and my whole world.”

As the family mourned Bach-Hasselhoff’s death, she was laid to rest in Los Angeles on March 29 following a funeral at Bel Air Presbyterian Church. Hasselhoff was reportedly not in attendance for the service.

Prior to Hasselhoff’s marriage to Bach-Hasselhoff, the actor was married to actress Catherine Hickland from 1984 to 1989. Hasselhoff is currently married to model Hayley Roberts, whom he wed in 2018.
