Daytime TV has gone through many changes — including heartbreaking cancellations and surprising casting swaps — ahead of the fall season.

One major shakeup took place at ABC, when DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim both left GMA3. Pilgrim then moved to Inside Edition, which came after ABC News grouped its overnight programming and GMA3 with Good Morning America as a way to cut costs. Pilgrim and Morgan’s respective departures sparked questions about who would be taking over in their place — or whether their exits marked the end of the show.

“What we have said from the beginning is that we are unifying all day parts under the GMA umbrella and team and that includes seeing all members of the extended GMA family in the third hour,” a spokesperson told the New York Post in April. “The third hour is a valued part of the GMA franchise.”

There has also been speculation about George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan playing a more active role in GMA3. According to the ABC spokesperson, “Robin, George, and Michael have been on before, and they will continue to be featured.”

The Good Morning America spinoff debuted in 2018 as a replacement for The Chew. The morning show was originally hosted by Michael Strahan and Sara Haines. After Haines went on maternity […]

Meanwhile, Fox’s Extra saw a chance when Derek Hough was announced as the new host following Billy Bush‘s departure from the daytime show.

“The ballroom has been my stage, my home and my launchpad. Now, I’m stepping into an exciting new spotlight as the host of Extra,” Hough said in a statement in August. “I’m truly looking forward to collaborating with this incredible team, diving into this next creative chapter and connecting with fans and audiences in a whole new way.”

The Dancing With the Stars judge called his new role “an honor” amid Extra‘s “bold, fresh new era for season 32.” Us Weekly confirmed that same month that Hough beat out Wells Adams and Jason Kennedy for the position.
