A woman has made a horrific discovery inside a Cadbury chocolate bunny she purchased for Easter.

At a time when many of us are still trying to get through our chocolate hauls, Gold Coast local, Chy, got the shock of her life midway through eating her popular Cadbury bunny.

“I sat down, opened the bunny, and started to eat the ears. I went to take another bite and felt what I thought was hair,” the woman told Kidspot.

“I turned on my video and flash in the lounge to look, and thought I saw hair. Instantly, I wanted to vomit and started crying as I have huuuuge issues with foods already.”

Wait, that’s not a hair

The woman then took the bunny over to her ring light for closer inspection, and that’s when things went from gross to totally mortifying.

“I saw what looked like webs and was so focused on trying to film those, I didn’t see what was in the bottom!” she shared.

“There was a live bug, worm, meal moth moving around, dead ones, and what looked like droppings from them.”

Sat down tonight to start eating an Easter egg bunny, got half way through and felt something touch my tongue, I turned my phone torch on and saw what I thought was a spider web… went down to my beauty room to use the ring light to see what it was and IF YOU KEEP WATCHING YOULL SEE AT THE END WHAT I FOUND AND SEE WHEN I SAW WHAT I SAW 🤢🤢🤢🤢 I was so focused on the webs I didn’t notice what was at the bottom 😭 And no it’s not from in my house or my cupboard because I’ve now checked everything and there is none in my flour/sugar/rice ect and I cut open every other egg and bunny and found nothing in them, this bunny was also hidden away from all my kitchen/baking stuff as it was for my daughter what the FUCK 🤢🤢🤢 Located on the Gold Coast Australia UPDATE: the company who makes these bunnies – phone number is on the foil – said they think it’s an Indian meal moth from somewhere in production line but possibly elsewhere and they are common all over the world 😵‍💫

To say she was disgusted is an understatement. Chy was so repulsed by her find, she spent a good time afterwards in the bathroom reliving the treat (no, not in a good way!)

“You can hear in the video my shock when I saw that. Straight after I put it down and spent half an hour over the toilet vomiting and then continuing to make myself vomit because I was so stressed, worried, and disgusted,” she admitted.

Is this normal?

After making so many chocolate egg purchases in the weeks leading up to Easter, Chy was unable to remember exactly which store she purchased the bunny from.

“I turned on my video and flash in the lounge to look, and thought I saw hair. Instantly, I wanted to vomit and started crying as I have huuuuge issues with foods already,” the woman continued. Tiktok/@chyannnn3

“I purchased it either from Pimpama or Coomera Westfield,” she said.

It’s for this reason she didn’t take it back to the store but rather reached out to Cadbury directly.

“I sent them photos, they responded and said it’s something called Indian meal moths and is common all over the world / with all types of foods,” Chy said.

“They offered me a $30 gift card, and I have since replied saying I don’t believe the $30 is reasonable and asked for further details on how they prevent this from happening.”

While she’s yet to hear a response, Kidspot did reach out to Cadbury, who have confirmed there is no need for the general public to worry and this was indeed an isolated case.

“Our consumer care team provided expert support on 22 April to address this unfortunate experience with our product,” a spokesperson confirmed.

“There was a live bug, worm, meal moth moving around, dead ones, and what looked like droppings from them.” Tiktok/@chyannnn3

“We ensure the highest quality and safety measures within our manufacturing plants and support our transport partners’ standards; however, it is difficult to control our products once they leave our care and make their way into millions of homes across Australia.

“Our investigation found this was an isolated incident within the product batch. We communicated this information to the consumer and expressed our apologies for their experience.”

A reminder to look INSIDE your easter treats!

But the claims of her experience being an isolated case haven’t been enough for the Perth local, who says that while it might not be a Cadbury-specific issue, plenty of others have reached out to her with similar stories relating to hollow chocolate treats in general.

“You can hear in the video my shock when I saw that. Straight after I put it down and spent half an hour over the toilet vomiting and then continuing to make myself vomit because I was so stressed, worried, and disgusted,” she admitted.  Tiktok/@chyannnn3

“I understand mistakes happen, but I posted it in a Facebook group and over 20 other women had the same thing happen with their Easter choccies this year – from webs to mould to maggots in their chocolates!” she insisted.

While it will be a whole year before we head out to the shops for more Easter eggs, Chy wants to remind everyone to look inside their hollow eggs or bunnies in case the same thing can be found.

“I just hope it makes people aware, and honestly, for the price of chocolate and general everything at the moment, consumers shouldn’t have to have this happen,” she insists.
