President Donald Trump has slammed Attorney General Letitia James, suggesting the Cornell 7 frat boys at the center of rape allegations “won’t get a fair shake” if she is involved in proceedings.
“Letitia James is a corrupt person,” Trump told White House reporters on Friday, October 2, after being asked about her appointment as special prosecutor in the case.
According to multiple outlets, he added, “She’s totally corrupt, and I can’t imagine it. And I feel badly for whoever she’s looking at because they won’t get a fair shake. Letitia James is a corrupt person.”
Us has reached out to James’ office for comment.
The president has a hostile dynamic with James after her high-profile civil fraud investigations into his business dealings. In 2022, James brought a $454 million civil fraud case against Trump, his family and his company. A New York appeals court overturned the case in 2026.
On Friday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul told James to take over the criminal investigations into the alleged gang rape.

“We will review the facts, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and if warranted pursue prosecutions,” James said. “I know that you want answers. I do, too.”
Jane Doe, a former student at the Ivy League school, recently sued Cornell and seven male fraternity members. Per the lawsuit, the alleged victim, who was 20 at the time of the alleged rape, remembered feeling intoxicated after drinking at her sorority and a nightclub on October 19, 2024. She went alone to visit a friend at the frat house, where she was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house in Ithaca, New York.
Local station WBNG published text messages from a Snapchat group called “Chi Phi Actives,” in which one of the men informed his frat brothers that there was “free p**** upstairs,” using a derogatory term for a woman’s vagina. Jane Doe recalled being sexually assaulted repeatedly by multiple members of the fraternity until the early morning hours of the following day.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case, but the local district attorney has said he is reopening it in light of the civil suit.
Attorneys representing the named fraternity members have vigorously denied the claims in the lawsuit.
