Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren, was arrested in April 2025 following a police shooting.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department statement, Lauren was arrested on April 9, 2025, for felony attempted murder after allegedly firing a handgun at an LAPD officer.
Neither Lauren nor Shriner have publicly addressed the incident. The couple have been married since 2005, four years before they adopted son Tariku Moon in 2009. Jillian and Scott later adopted son Jovanni “Jovi” Starshine in 2016.
Five weeks before her arrest, Lauren also had surgery for an undisclosed form of cancer.
“I have a little bit of the C word, y’all. I know a lot of us do,” she wrote via Instagram in March 2025. “I’m here to thank the incredible oncology team here, who pulled me through a complicated operation without a hitch. I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate and excellent medical care I receive in my life.”

What Happened?
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was called after three suspects fled following a misdemeanor hit-and-run on April 8, 2025. According to an LAPD statement, the CHP requested backup outside Lauren’s home. Upon their arrival, the officers found Lauren armed with a handgun in a neighboring yard. She was allegedly ordered to drop her weapon but reportedly refused.
Lauren was struck by gunfire and subsequently treated for a “non-life-threatening gunshot wound” at a local hospital.
Jillian Lauren’s Arrest
Per the LAPD release, Lauren was absentee booked for attempted murder. The true crime author was released on a $1 million bond several hours later. She has a court date scheduled for April 30, 2025.
Upon Lauren’s arrest, officers also recovered a 9-millimeter handgun from her house.

“It was later determined that [Lauren] was uninvolved in the hit-and-run and lived at the residence where she was observed,” the LAPD statement notes. “One of the male suspects connected with the hit-and-run was detained by CHP, cited and released. The other two suspects were not located.”
