After their December 2024 proposal, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco took some time to plan their wedding before tying the knot in September 2025.
In July 2025, Blanco shared that he and Gomez were “both working on so many things” that they “haven’t even had time to get into” wedding planning.
“But we’re so excited,” he shared on Jake Shane’s “Therapuss” podcast. “I think this summer, we’re going to sit down and be like, ‘OK, what are we doing, hun?’”
A little over a month after Blanco gave a wedding update, Gomez went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to celebrate her bachelorette with her closest girlfriends.
“It was your typical, traditional bachelorette and what Selena wanted,” a source told Us Weekly in August 2025. “She was radiating all weekend and was so happy to have downtime with her girlfriends. Selena is a simple girl, and the little things go a long way with her. She truly exudes happiness when she talks about Benny. She is very excited to start this next chapter with him.”
Meanwhile, Blanco had a bachelor party in Las Vegas, where he spent time with some of his guy friends, including rapper Lil Dicky.

The Couple Planned for it to be ‘Chill’
While Blanco shared in July 2025 that the twosome had been too busy with their respective careers to start wedding planning, he did share that their ceremony would be worth the wait.
“It will be chill,” he gushed on the “Therapuss” podcast. “It will be amazing.”
The Wedding Planning Process Was ‘Wonderful’

In September 2025, Gomez shared that planning her wedding had been “wonderful.”
“I’m very lucky,” she shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It’s going well. I’m so excited.”
Her Preferred Wedding Dessert
Gomez shared that she did not want to have “a big cake” at her wedding.
“I think I’d want a mini one for just us that we can freeze,” she said via her beauty brand, Rare Beauty’s TikTok in July 2025. “My preferred dessert would be biscuits and gravy. My Nana’s biscuits and gravy — that sounds like dessert to me.”
They Didn’t Plan a Traditional First Dance
In April 2025, Gomez shared that she “[didn’t] think” that she and Blanco were going to have a traditional first dance.
“She’s shy,” Blanco said on the “Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware” podcast, before Gomez shared that she hoped to do a dance with her maternal grandfather. “I’m looking to have a special dance with my papa. He never got a chance to walk my mom [Mandy Teefey] down the aisle because, good for my mom, she decided to go to Vegas and was like, ‘Whoooo’ and she’s still been with him [Brian Teefey] ever since she was 26. So it’s very cute that they did that. But I wanted to give my grandfather the opportunity to have that.”
Gomez did note that while they were not doing a traditional dance, she would still participate in Blanco’s Jewish heritage by doing the Hora. (The Hora is traditionally done with the bride and groom being lifted in the air in chairs by their wedding guests.)
“I am very nervous about that,” Gomez said. “I have to be honest, it looks so cute and adorable. But I was like, ‘What, I have to depend on something like this?’ I just gotta have a padding around.”
Martin Short Was the Ring Bearer
Gomez revealed that her Only Murders in the Building costar and close friend Martin Short would play a big role at her wedding.
“Marty’s the ring bearer,” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Short went on to say that he and Steve Martin were “so excited” for Gomez’s wedding.
“We love this lady and we love her fiancé, Bad Bunny,” Short joked before Gomez corrected him, “Benny Blanco.”
Several Stars Were in Attendance
Aside from Short and Martin, some other stars expected to attend Gomez and Blanco’s nuptials included Paris Hilton, Ed Sheeran, David Henrie, Taylor Swift and Ashley Park.
Unfortunately, Meryl Streep was unable to attend the ceremony with Short because she was at Milan Fashion Week 2025 the same day.
When Did They Say ‘I Do’?
Gomez confirmed via Instagram on September 27 that she and Blanco had exchanged vows earlier in the day in Santa Barbara, California. The “Hands to Myself” singer showed off her strapless white wedding gown, while Blanco went for a traditional tuxedo.
Us Weekly previously learned that many of the couple’s loved ones and famous friends attended a rehearsal dinner on Friday, September 26, ahead of the ceremony the following day.
“It will be a huge, A-list, star-studded wedding planned by Mindy Weiss,” the insider teased.
