Hailey Bieber is winning with her $1 billion Rhode sale — but how much did she really earn?
In May, Bieber, 28, sold her beauty brand for $1 billion to e.l.f. Beauty, just three years after launch. That same day, she addressed the news via Instagram, sharing that she felt “incredibly excited and proud” to be teaming up with e.l.f. Bieber later told Vogue on June 11 that she will still be stepping up as Rhode’s Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation. She will also serve as e.l.f. Beauty’s Strategic Advisor.
In the latest issue of Us Weekly, which hit newsstands on Wednesday, June 25, finance expert Drew Fallon shared that the lucrative deal was a “fantastic move by Hailey.” While there was online speculation that Bieber became an overnight billionaire, finance expert and content creator Caroline Begleiter clarified that was “definitely not” the case.
“A billion dollars is the value that they paid for the entire company,” Begleiter told Us, explaining that $200 million goes to investors if the company’s revenue targets are hit, and another $200 million is put in e.l.f. Stocks. Bieber then split the remaining $600 million with her investors and presumably her cofounders, Michael Ratner and Lauren Ratner.
Fallon and Begleiter told Us they expect that Bieber Hailey owns between 50 and 60 percent of the company. “She’s probably going home with north of $300 million,” Fallon elaborated.

A source also told Us that Bieber felt “empowered” by her sale and new title as CCO. “This is a new chapter for her, and it shifted her entire mindset. She feels incredibly proud of herself.” The insider added, “Her success has been clouded by family issues, but she has still made time to celebrate with her friends and has been embracing his new chapter. Rhode is something she is so passionate about, and the deal still feels surreal to her.”
Hailey’s success comes amid speculation that her marriage with Justin Bieber is on the rocks, due to his recent social media posts and after she was photographed not wearing her engagement ring earlier this month.
“Justin’s been a hard person to deal with recently because of what he’s going through. Hailey is the stable parent and the one keeping their family together,” a source told Us, referencing their son, Jack Blues, whom they welcomed in August 2024. “It’s been really hard on her.”
A second source added, “Things have been very tense in the last month. Hailey’s worried about Justin, especially with a [baby at home]. He hasn’t been down like this in quite some time, so there’s concern.”
According to both sources, the couple is determined to make it through their rough patch.
