While those who work on board should always be on the lookout for any funny business that will put passengers and crew members’ safety at risk — an airline steward might have taken their job a little too seriously.
A flight attendant took to the r/flightattendants subreddit on Reddit (the post has now been deleted, but excerpts were shared by One Mile At A Time) to share the story of how they apparently got suspended for arresting their colleague — and asked for advice on how to handle this situation.
And the reason for the citizen’s arrest has people’s jaws on the floor.
The crewmember started off their post by explaining how they were working with “difficult” colleagues and that they like to stay on top of everything that is happening in the cabin.
“I went to the aft galley and inspected the carts and made sure everything was packed up and completed according to company policy. Thankfully, it was, which saved me needing to file an incident report, and I counted there were four snack boxes remaining,” they wrote.
Recalling that one of their fellow flight attendants mentioned that they were hungry — the poster took it upon themselves to double-check the carts. Lo and behold, supposedly, there was a snack box missing.
“I did not raise it with the crew member, but immediately rang the Captain and requested a supervisor meet us at the gate,” they explained.
“By the time all pax had disembarked, the supervisor had still not arrived, so I told the crew they were unable to leave and they were not under any circumstances to touch or move their baggage.”
To make this situation even more dramatic — the accusing flight attendant blocked the main cabin door with a service cart to prevent any crewmembers from getting off the plane.
In doing so, they accidentally made their fellow “stealing” flight attendant fall over.

Although this poster claimed they were looking out for the airline they worked for — they ended up getting suspended for this bizarre action.
And as expected, Reddit users went off on them.
“Don’t be a pathetic snitch at your next job,” one person advised.
“This entire post lacks self-awareness. I don’t understand why some FAs have to dedicate their lives into making other FAs miserable, especially for a company that could replace you in an instant. Just let people be. You got the consequences you deserve,” read another comment.
“Karma got you real quick. Don’t be a snitch and mind your own business. You don’t know other people’s struggle….” wrote someone else.
“This is an absolutely over-the-top reaction. Make a report if you really feel it’s that necessary…over a snack box. But you have no right to not only hold people hostage (again, over a snack box), but then end up assaulting a co-worker….over a snack box. Which she didn’t even end up having on her.”
