HGTV star Frank Cozzolino has died at age 56 after experiencing sudden health complications.
Cozzolino’s costar Mike Holmes, who appeared with him on Holmes on Homes, confirmed that his friend died earlier this month.
“I am devastated by the passing of my good friend Frank Cozzolino,” Holmes, 62, wrote via Instagram. “Frank made us better. His impact will live on in every home he helped.”
He continued, “Frank could walk into the toughest electrical disaster, crack a joke in his style, and suddenly the whole room felt lighter. That’s just who he was.”
The reality star noted that Cozzolino “really cared” about every homeowner he helped, writing, “Frank will forever be part of the Holmes family. Miss you buddy.”
Holmes and Cozzolino shared the screen not only on HGTV’s Holmes on Homes but also on the series’ spinoff shows such as Holmes Family Rescue. In his obituary it was stated that the electrician is survived by his partner Lisa and his daughters Filomena and Alexandria.
In a follow-up post, Holmes revealed Cozzolino experienced health issues over the years before a “sudden” complication.
“Frank has gone through hell,” Holmes said in a Tuesday, December 9, Instagram clip. “I mean he’s had a liver six years ago, that liver failed, he had to go in and get another liver. It was touch and go, we thought for sure that he wasn’t going to make it, and he came back.”
Holmes continued: “And all of a sudden due to complications, he has passed away Dec. 4. With great sadness from all my family, my friends and everyone that he’s helped. He will be sadly missed.”
Holmes recalled meeting Cozzolino on the set of Holmes on Homes before it premiered in 2003.
“Approximately 25 years ago, on the very first day of filming Holmes on Homes — it was a brand new show — at the end of the day, in walked an electrician. His name was Frank Cozzolino,” he shared of Cozzolino meeting him, adding that the introduction happened because “he wanted so much to help the homeowners we were about to help.”
“I said to him, ‘We don’t have the money. Can you help me help these people?’” he continued. “He said, ‘Yes.’”
Before his death, Cozzolino offered glimpses at his friendship with Holmes. They recently worked together on Holmes Family Rescue in 2024 while HGTV’s Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy stars Holmes’ children — Sherry and Mike Jr. — who both honored Cozzolino on their social media accounts as well.
