Happy New Year, Star Seeds!
2K25 starts on the heels of an industrious new moon in Capricorn. The sun will spend most of the month in the strive and shine sign of the sea goat before climbing into the space cadet caboose of Aquarius on January 19th.
The big news of the month and the new year comes on January 11th when the lunar nodes move into the axis of Virgo and Pisces, AKA the axis of practical magic.
The brilliant astrologer and tarot card reader Elise Wells of Planet Poetica is on hand to shed light on the planetary movements at play.
Wells tells The Post, “With North Node in Pisces, we are being collectively tasked to integrate (Pisces) rather than compartmentalize (Virgo). How do you, as an individual in the pattern (Virgo), allow yourself to dissolve into the ebb and flow of order/chaos, creation/destruction, merging/emerging.”
Cue the words of Virgo sun/Pisces moon and pure priest Leonard Cohen, who reminds us in his poem “Good Advice For Someone Like Me:”
“behind the pain
someone is rejoicing
behind the torture
there is love
who’s going to buy
this bulls–t
if you don’t become the ocean
you’ll be seasick
every day.”
Buy the ticket, ride the wave.
On January 13th, we’re all invited to howl for our healing during the full wolf moon in Cancer, the first full moon of the new year. On January 29th, we celebrate the Lunar New Year. Get ready to shed when the Year of the Snake slithers into focus.
Wells imparts that Mars, our planet of will and desire, and Venus, our planet of wealth and worth, will spend the bulk of January in water signs.
“Mars in Cancer might make us a little softer in our desires, and they might remain closer to home and family. We can tap into our desires not only physically but psychically.”
Meanwhile, “With Venus in Pisces, the energy is very Moana-esque. We are connected to the heart of the
ocean, to that resonance and frequency that we can always tune into but can intensely tap into during this time.”

“Chiron continues working its way through your sign this month, Aries. In Aries, Chiron is as much about burning through karma as working through it. Remember, the wounded healer is not “wounded and then healed” but rather continually aware of experiencing grief and heartbreak as the pathway through the human experience. Keep on feeling, keep on healing, baby.”
Uranus is in your sign, Taurus, and this can mean really pulling that genius, freaky, out-of-left-field, wild and wonderful energy down into the body for upgrades. Uranus represents technologies- and is not the body not the ultimate intelligent, transformative technology of all? This is about that lightning in a bottle you drink down to come up.”
“With Jupiter in your sign this month, your downloads will double, and the whispers in the wind will speak sweet and true to you, Gemini. Listen with not just your ears but all your senses. Jupiter trades in tokens, chips, coins, jewels and in your sign of communication and information, mantras-mandalas, images and symbols could provide the windfall you need and the courage to say what you need to say.”
“Mars will be retrograde in your sign for most of the month, Cancer. This energy can set fire to your desire. With Mars in the mix, your emo energy can go somewhere; it can do something. You don’t always have to sit with your feelings; you’ve already mastered that. Now is the time to make fuel from your feelings; use them to push you forward and into the life you want.”
“With Pluto in Aquarius opposite your sign, the axis of play and detachment is very much at the forefront for you, Leo. It’s about the dynamic tension between the life of the party and the wallflower; both can be an embodied, empowered stance! You are throwing sunlight and warmth and vitality into cold, futuristic places- melt Pluto and make it your ally for walking through them.”
“The South Node begins its cycle through your sign, Virgo. Now you can go to the metaphorical underworld, lean back and down and find little treasures in the dirt you thought you had lost forever. By treasure, I mean sweet memories, forgotten truths, spiritual gifts and pieces of soul. Now is your chance to scoop it all up, pocket it and carry what you need forward.”
“Happy New Year, Libra. You might feel a sense of relief and closure as the South Node moves out of your sign where it has been churning and changing you for the last 18 months. Now that your fires of individuation have been stoked, you can let them slow burn and actively unfold in how you responsibly and rightly relate to others. You can connect and support without sacrifice or submission.”
“The skies are clear for Scorpions. With Uranus, the planet of surprises, genius, new technologies and lightning in your opposite sign of Taurus, you might feel the pull to ground yourself in unusual modalities for purposes of progress and protection. Your water sign runs close to the deep earth and the more you dig in, the more you might find new, ingenious ways to feel safe and secure.”
“With Jupiter, the planet of expansion and fortune, working in tandem with Gemini, you are really able to “air out” the thoughts, feelings and patterns you have been keeping locked up and in, Sagittarius. Your mission is to give these floating forces expression, communication and conversation in a big way. Even if you are talking to the abstract idea of the world, your messages, sent and received, will be blessed.”
Wells shares, “With Mercury in your sign for most of the month, get ready to get serious about your
mind, Capricorn. This relates not just to the quality of your thoughts but your ability to tap into consciousness and the collective super consciousness that lives in the 8th house. You’ll need both to build into being what you’ve been dreaming. Castle in the mind, clay in the hands, baby.”
“Ah, Aquarius, you must feel the relief of Pluto moving into your sign and coming up for air. Aquarius cares about humanity, but it also cares about getting a view from above; it can detach and heal and think about ideas and perspectives that are unavailable from the vantage of up close and deeply personal. This is indeed a superpower. Just remember to come back down and warm up once you have the intel you need.”
“The North Node of Destiny moves into your sign on January 12th, Pisces. You might experience a sense of returning to your true self, knowing more about where you came from and where you are going. You are blessed/baptized by the ability to step into other people’s waves and step right back out without drowning. The next 18 months are helping uncover your true, wildly original purpose.”
