Jelly Roll says he and wife Bunnie Xo had a hard time getting intimate before his weight loss journey.
“My sex life with my wife was horrible,” the country singer, 41, said during the Wednesday, December 10, episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “Dude, I married a f***ing big-tittied, blond, beautiful woman, you know what I mean? I married the kind of woman that makes you smile when you cry. I couldn’t even get aroused, I was so big.”
Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) compared his and Bunnie Xo’s sexual encounters to playing the board game Twister.
“Left foot here, right foot on the X,” he quipped. “Are we in there yet? Tell me if you feel something.”
The “Son of a Sinner” musician started his weight loss journey in 2024. Earlier this year, he revealed that he was down nearly 200 pounds and planned to lose more.
“I started at 540 pounds and I was 357 pounds this morning,” he told Pat McAfee during the Big Night AHT live show in April. “I’m gonna lose another 100 pounds.”
Bunnie Xo, 45, has been by her husband’s side throughout his health journey. Following his declaration to slim down even further, she shared a playful video supporting his accomplishment.
“When you have to check and make sure he’s still your squish after all the weight loss,” she wrote over the August TikTok video and added the caption, “Bestie #jellyandbunnie.”
The following month, Bunnie Xo (real name Alyssa DeFord) took to social media to address comments she had seen online calling her husband “hot” amid his weight loss.
“[People say], ‘Girl, your man is so hot now that he’s lost all that weight,’” the influencer said via a TikTok video uploaded in September. “Is he? Because he’s always had the same face. He’s always had the same heart. He’s always had the same soul.”
Struggles in the bedroom are not the only issue Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have dealt with in their relationship. In October, Jelly Roll confessed that he had cheated on his wife and regrets the action to this day.
“One of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” Jelly Roll said during an October episode of the “Human School” podcast. “Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back.”
He admitted that he did “a lot of work to repair” their connection and the couple became “stronger than we could have ever been.”
Bunnie Xo, for her part, defended her decision to forgive her husband and work out their issues.
“It takes a stronger woman to face pain head-on, do the work, and rebuild with the man she loves instead of running or gossiping,” she replied to an Instagram user. “Growth isn’t weakness, it’s grace. But not everyone’s built for that kind of strength. I pray you never have to feel that pain bc you’re judging another woman’s life.”
