Jeremy Renner and ex-wife Sonni Pacheco have an “easy” coparenting arrangement, according to the Marvel star.
“Her mom and I get along very well, and we’re in each other’s lives,” Renner, 54, told The Guardian in a profile published on Saturday, July 12. “It’s lovely.”
Renner and Pacheco, 37, were married from January 2014 to December 2015, during which they welcomed daughter Ava. Pacheco filed for divorce just 10 months after their secret nuptials, asking for joint legal custody and sole physical custody. She also claimed in her petition that Renner had stolen her passport, birth certificate and social security card and asked for her possessions back. (Renner never publicly addressed the claims, though a source told Us Weekly at the time that Pacheco “just [wanted] independence.”)
News broke in December 2015 that Renner and Pacheco had finalized their divorce, sharing custody of Ava. Renner was also ordered to pay Pacheco $13,000 a month in child support.
While speaking with The Guardian, Renner hinted that the drama was solely for legal tactics.
“That’s just lawyers talking. That’s lawyers arguing,” he said. “The custody was easy. … It’s no one’s business.”

He added, “It’s great. She’s got a new baby and she sends me beautiful pictures.”
Pacheco welcomed her second child, daughter Wylder, in March 2023 with hockey player Nate Thompson. As for Renner, he is single and told the British newspaper that he doesn’t have a romantic partner “at the moment.”
“I’m pretty focused on my daughter and the foundation for the kids,” the actor stressed, referring to his RennerVation nonprofit that provides support for children in and out of the foster care system. “That’s where the accident really shifted my focus. I can still go to work, but my primary focus is to give back and help in any way I can.”
He continued, “That’s way more fulfilling than anything else I’ve done, outside of bringing up my own child. Being able to put a smile on these kids’ faces and share that joy with them and share the growth, I can’t think of anything more rewarding.”
Renner was pinned underneath a snowplow and broke more than 30 bones in a near-fatal January 2023 accident. The health scare also transformed his bond with Ava.
“The accident really propelled us into a very adult relationship,” Renner exclusively told Us of his daughter in August 2024. “It’s been wonderful, and now I feel like I’m just a manager or a bouncer. I feel like my roles are changing … [I’m wearing] different hats now. Now, I feel like I just have to be around and make sure she doesn’t do bad stuff.”
