Jack Schlossberg — who is the grandson of late president John F. Kennedy — is calling to boycott this year’s Met Gala.
“Hey Anna Wintour! I am boycotting the Met Gala this year with so much happening at home and around the world,” the social media personality, 32, said in a TikTok video uploaded on Thursday, April 24. “It’s not the time for a party like that, at least for me.”
Schlossberg, who previously worked for Vogue and has attended the Met Gala in the past, shared that he would not be attending this year’s event and encouraged others to do the same.
“I will be boycotting the Met Gala and I think others should as well,” Schlossberg continued. “It is not the time for a party like that.”
Schlossberg also tagged Vogue in the post. Last year, Schlossberg worked for the publication to report on the 2024 election.
In a follow up video, Schlossberg explained his reasoning for his decision to boycott.
“I’ve been to the Met Gala before, I had a great time,” he said while sitting on a kayak. “But this year with so much happening around the world and at home, I cannot in good conscience go to the Met Gala.”

Schlossberg teased that instead, he was going to be “launching something brand new” that would be “important and informative.”
Schlossberg previously attended the Met Gala in 2017 alongside his mom Caroline Kennedy, who is the daughter of JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the sister of the late John F. Kennedy Jr. It is unclear if Schlossberg was invited to attend this year’s event.
The Met Gala is a fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in Manhattan. The event, which is known as fashion’s biggest night, is organized by Vogue. Anna Wintour, who is the editor-in-chief of the publication and chief content officer at Conde Nast, as been a cochair for the gala since 1995.
Countless celebrities attend the event dressed in coordination to the specific theme that pairs with the current exhibition. For this year’s Met Gala the theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibit will explore a style subculture called the Black dandy which will “illustrate how Black people transformed from being enslaved and stylized as luxury items, acquired like any other signifier of wealth and status, to autonomous self-fashioning individuals who are global trendsetters,” per Vogue. The dress code is “Tailored for You.”
Colman Domingo, race car driver Lewis Hamilton, musicians A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams were named cochairs for this year’s festivities. NBA star LeBron James will also serve as an honorary cochair.
