John Travolta is a proud dad.
The actor, 71, took to Instagram on Wednesday, November 12, and shared a rare video of his 14-year-old son Ben hiking up a snowy mountain. When the teen reached the top, he smiled and admired the views of the ocean below and more mountains in the distance.
“Ain’t no mountain high enough for my son Ben. Love from Norway,” John captioned the post, which he set to the tune of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
John’s fans flocked to the comment section with praise for father and son.
“Incredible. You’re doing an amazing job raising those kids,” one fan gushed. “I’m sure Kelly [Preston] would be thrilled and ever so proud.”
Preston, John’s late wife and Ben’s mother, died in July 2020 following a two-year battle with breast cancer. The 57-year-old married John in 1991, and besides Ben, the couple had shared daughter Ella, 25, and son Jett, who passed away in 2009 at age 16 after suffering a seizure.
“She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many,” Travolta wrote in an Instagram post announcing her death. “Forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”
A source told Us Weekly at the time that Preston was “the heart and soul who kept the family united” and that she and John were “true partners.”

The source said that “Ella and Kelly were best friends and inseparable, and of course Benjamin worshiped his mom.”
John regularly pays tribute to Preston via social media. On Mother’s Day last year, he posted photos of her with their kids, writing, “we miss you.”
While Ben explores the outdoors, his sister is following in her parents’ footsteps. It was reported in October that Ella has a role in John’s upcoming thriller, Black Tides.
According to the outlet, Black Tides follows an estranged father (John) trying to reconnect with his daughter (Melissa Barrera) and grandson (Dylan Torrell) during a sailing trip off the Spanish coast. Trouble ensues when a pod of orcas attack their boat and the sailors must fight for their lives.

Filming recently took place in Gran Canaria, Spain, and details on Ella’s character have yet to be disclosed. Black Tides is her fifth film role. She previously appeared in 2009’s Old Dogs and 2019’s The Poison Rose alongside John. Her other films, Get Lost and Nice People, are awaiting release.
“I always jump at the opportunity to do something with my dad and we always have the most fun doing something together,” Ella told People in 2023. “So, hopefully we’ll do something soon again. Maybe another project or movie. I’m always up for that.”
As she pursues acting, Ella has also recorded music, including her first EP, 2024’s Colors of Love.
“Pretty much my whole life, I’ve always loved performing, the arts in general,” she said during a recent interview on Today, saying “it was very inspirational to have that around me since I was little.”
She called John a helpful career guide “because he’s been in this industry — the movie industry and the music industry — forever, so he knows how to protect me in that sense.”
