Kate Beckinsale reportedly wrote candidly about her body via social media.
In a since-deleted Instagram post shared by Beckinsale, 51, on Tuesday, July 1, the actress allegedly responded to an online troll who commented on her shared bikini photos. Page Six reported on the comments later that day.
The outlet included the alleged interaction between Beckinsale and the follower which is said to have begun with the comment, “Oh sweetheart, I honestly think you have a problem. You don’t look good. I think you honestly need help.”
Beckinsale then reportedly responded with, “Yes I do. I’m going through one of the most deeply painful times of my life. The body keeps the score.”
The outlet noted that Beckinsale did not expand on her response any further, but did suggest that her response referenced the acclaimed book “The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma,” written by Bessel Van Der Kolk.
The alleged post comes less than one month after news of Beckinsale filing a complaint that accused the producers of her 2024 film Canary Black of “negligence, battery and international infliction of emotional distress,” surfaced.
Per the Pearl Harbor star’s legal documents, filed in the Los Angeles Supreme Court on May 21 and obtained by Us Weekly on June 11, Beckinsale pinpoints Anton Entertainment and producer John Zois.
The documents claimed that Beckinsale “was repeatedly exposed to unsafe and dangerous conditions” while filming the film from 2022 to 2023. The filing also claimed that Beckinsale suffered “severe and debilitating injuries, including significant trauma to her left knee.”
The filing claimed that Beckinsale and “her team repeatedly raised red flags regarding unsafe conditions on and off set to Defendants, including long, dangerous set days, often lasting fifteen hours, inadequate equipment and medical personnel to help manage the high physical workload and recover from the exertion off set, and failure to adequately inform Ms. Beckinsale of what stunts she was expected to perform until often the moment she had to perform it.”
A spokesperson for Anton Entertainment responded to the filing via a statement shared with Screen Daily on June 19. The outlet reported that the representative said, “We follow strict safety standards on all our productions. We are reviewing these allegations, which we believe are meritless.”
The film was released by Prime Video in October 2024. It charts the story of Avery Graves, played by Beckinsale, who is a CIA operative whose husband is kidnapped by terrorists. To rescue her husband, the character faces the prospect of betraying her country.
