Katie Gaudreau, the sister of late hockey players Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, spotted a serendipitous sign just days before her wedding.
“Full double rainbows right above our house,” Katie posted via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, July 8, sharing a photo of the occurrence.
Katie’s mother, Jane Gaudreau, also posted a picture of the rainbows on social media.
“I knew John and Matty would be watching over us this week! 🌈🌈,” Jane shared via her Instagram Story. “Happy Wedding Week Katie & Devin! ❤️👰🏻❤️🤵🏻.”
Katie and her fiancé, Devin Joyce, are set to get married in Philadelphia on Friday, July 11.
The couple was forced to reschedule their wedding last year after Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver while riding their bicycles in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, on August 29, the night before the original ceremony.
Johnny, a former star for the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames, and Matthew, who played collegiate hockey with his brother at Boston College, will still have their presences felt on Katie’s big day.
In September 2024, Katie revealed she had etched “J+M” into her silver wedding band, which she showed off in exclusive engagement photos shared with Us Weekly in June.
In the lead-up to walking down the aisle, Katie said she has been “feeling every emotion imaginable” while working with her team to plan the wedding.

“Sadness, exhaustion, nervousness, guilt, stress, love, and happiness,” she shared via Instagram in May. “For months they have been working so hard behind the scenes making sure everything is running smoothly and that my family and I don’t have to worry about any of the big decisions.”
Katie added, “I am so incredibly lucky to have you all in my corner and helping me through this process. I can’t wait for you to all see the incredible job they have done to help make this day special.”
In March, Katie and Devin celebrated their ninth anniversary of dating, which Katie honored with a melancholic post via social media.
“I couldn’t be more grateful to have you by my side,” she wrote. “This past year has tested us in ways we never could have imagined, but our love has always come out stronger. You’ve shown up in ways that mean more than I can put into words, and I know I wouldn’t have gotten through it without you.”
Katie continued, “Since high school I’ve been waiting for the day I get to call you my husband….even though I call you my husband now I can’t wait for July 11th to officially be your wife. No matter what life throws our way, I’ll always be up for singing off-key and dancing terribly with you — whether it’s in a bar or our little kitchen — forever and more.”
