Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian are addressing their different experiences living with Caitlyn Jenner as kids.
The sisters discussed Caitlyn (formerly Bruce Jenner), who was married to their mother Kris Jenner from 1991 to 2015, on the Wednesday, May 21, episode of the “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast. (Kris, 69, divorced their father Robert Kardashian in 1991. Robert died in 2003.)
“[Caitlyn] never tried to be Dad and I always appreciated and respected that,” Khloé, 40, said on the podcast.
“OK, so, that wasn’t my experience, but maybe that’s why it became your experience,” Kourtney, 46, replied. “So [I’m] grateful for that for you.”
Kourtney recalled feeling like Caitlyn, now 75, “tried to be controlling and bossy” and would tell her that “certain friends” couldn’t come over.
For Khloé, Kourtney’s memories helped explain why her sibling “didn’t connect” with their stepparent. Khloé previously assumed that Kourtney disliked Kris’ second husband because “he was replacing Dad – not that he did, no one could replace Dad.”

Kourtney recalled fighting with Caitlyn.
“I would be like, ‘I wanna call my Dad,’ and [Caitlyn] would hang up the phone,” Kourtney said. “We would have yelling wars.”
Khloé was surprised to learn from Kourtney that her tension with Caitlyn was the reason that she moved in with Robert.
Besides Khloé and Kourtney, Caitlyn also step-parented Kris and Robert’s two other children, Kim and Rob. Caitlyn and Kris have two children together, Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
The Olympian has had a strained relationship with Kris and some of her stepchildren since the couple separated a decade ago amid Caitlyn coming out as transgender.
In 2023, Caitlyn said on an episode of the U.K.’s This Morning that she no longer speaks to Kris.
“If there’s any communication, my manager kind of talks to her,” she said at the time. While explaining that she’s “much closer to the Jenner side” of her family, “Kris, I don’t really have any more contact with her,” Caitlyn explained. “It’s kind of sad because we went through a lot.”
Caitlyn, who also shares son Burt and daughter Cassandra with first wife Chrystie Scott, and sons Brandon and Brody with second wife Linda Thompson, added: “When you have as many kids as I have, you’re closer to some than you are to others.”
Last October, Caitlyn celebrated her 75th birthday with stepdaughter Kim, 44, by her side.
“Family is everything!” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “So many kids and so many of the grandkids, all in one place, at one time. You all made my birthday evening so special…and your beyond thoughtful and generous gifts made the night all the more fun (WOW!)! I love you all so much.”
