Mauricio Umansky is shining a light on how Alexia Umansky’s loved ones learned about her past sexual assault.
“We, the family as a whole, did not have the opportunity to have the conversation before it aired,” Mauricio, 56, exclusively shared with Us after being eliminated from Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test on Thursday, October 15. “Alexia did call [her mom] Kyle [Richards] before it aired. She wanted to do it in person, and we kept looking for the right moment to do it and to have that conversation.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star said he and Alexia, 30, got a little heads-up about the episode before it aired. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough time to have a sit-down conversation.
“Alexia and I were together in New York, I think, and she had to call her mom and tell her about it over the phone, which was really difficult,” Mauricio explained. “But the whole family has not been together yet to really have an opportunity to discuss that.”
During the October 8 episode of Special Forces, Alexia was brought into interrogation, where she spoke to the directing staff about how she wanted to prove she had courage “after what happened” to her.
“Seven years ago, I was on a trip with some friends, and I was with people I trust. I was put to bed because I had a little too much to drink. And I woke up and I could tell something had happened,” she shared. “I felt completely objectified. And I had a lot of pain and anger because of that. At the one-year mark, I decided that happiness is a choice and I was gonna choose to put it away, but it still hurts.”
In a confessional interview, Alexia confirmed that her family didn’t have any idea that such an incident happened to her.

Cameras later rolled when The Agency real estate agent found the courage to speak to Mauricio in front of the other recruits.
“You don’t know [this]. I was taken advantage of by a friend,” she told her dad. “You guys not knowing is not anything I ever wanted you to know, but I kind of wanted to protect you guys from.”
During Thursday’s episode of Special Forces, Mauricio withdrew from the competition after experiencing too much pain from a cracked rib.
When discussing his journey in the jungle, the reality star couldn’t help but gush about how proud he was of his daughter.
“To watch your daughter conquer fears and show resilience and show grit and cry and laugh and smile as she’s conquering these things and to have that moment of sharing is insane,” he told Us. “And then to show the courage that she did by sharing the story about what happened to her, with being taken advantage of was although incredibly sad, it showed me how courageous she is to be able to share it.”
Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs on Fox Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
