Nina Dobrev opened up about what went into her surprise engagement day glam.
Dobrev, 35, opened up about getting ready to be proposed to by Shaun White via Instagram on Thursday, November 14. “Get ready with me for a Vogue dinner hosted by Anna Wintour … or so I thought,” Dobrev narrated over a clip of herself using a sheet mask and eye patches.
After creating a dewy base, Dobrev explained that her makeup artist, Soo Park, created “a winged eyeliner look, paused for a quick sing-along, then we decided to cut bangs mid-glam, but had to cover my face so that the hair wouldn’t fall on my makeup.”
The actress separated her fringe from her face with a paper towel — that she drew a smiley face on — as her hairstylist, Dawson Hiegert, worked his magic on her strands. The rest of her brunette mane was styled in beachy waves.
Next, she got dressed in a Chanel outfit featuring a sparkly button-up dress, polka-dot tights and a black coat.
Dobrev explained that her team threw her off even more by taking photos of her look, as she normally would do before any event.
“Little did I know what was waiting for me on the other side of the door,” the Vampire Diaries alum gushed. “To say that I was shocked is an understatement.” Dobrev also shared an adorable clip of herself gasping as she opened the door and realized White, 28, was about to propose to her.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more shocked or surprised or happier in my entire life,” she said. “I’m the planner in our relationship so I was shocked that Shaun pulled this off without me knowing. Best day ever.”
Last month, White got down on one knee and popped the question to Dobrev with an elongated oval-cut diamond set on a classic yellow gold band from Lorraine Schwartz. According to Lorel Diamonds jeweler Laura Taylor, the ring has “an approximate value of $220,000 to $270,000.” Expensive and classy taste, indeed!
