Nobody Wants This star Jackie Tohn can’t wait for season 2 of the Netflix hit — just like Us.
Tohn, 44, exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about the show’s success while attending Cure Addiction Now’s Inaugural Fundraising Evening at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday, February 24, shortly after news broke that Leighton Meester will join her husband, Adam Brody, in a new role on season 2.
“I mean, all are welcome,” Tohn, who wore L’AGENCE, told Us. “[Leighton’s] the greatest. She’s as funny and smart as she is beautiful.”
Tohn revealed that the cast — which also includes Kristen Bell, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons and more — picks up filming on Friday, February 28.
“It’s fabulous. When you’re in a first season of a show, you only have so much time to delve into each character. And so this is really exciting because it’s season 2, so you’re gonna, of course, learn more about each of them,” she continued.
The actress stars as Esther, who has some reservations about her brother-in-law Noah (Brody) dating non-Jewish Joanne (Bell).
“I think in season 1, Esther was very churned for a very long time, and in season 2, maybe she lightens up a little,” Tohn teased to Us. “I don’t know, no secrets.”
Nobody Wants This became an instant hit following its debut in September 2024. According to Tohn, things have been nonstop ever since.

“We were in press for a month, and then we were in pre-awards, like, ‘Oh, wait a minute. People like the show. You got to get your awards shoes on,’” she joked. “Like, ‘Oh s—, people care. We got to start doing the panels.’ And then we were doing all the awards shows … so we literally haven’t sat down since last September.”
Little is known about where the story will go in season 2, but Brody, 45, recently hinted to Deadline that his character — known as the “hot rabbi” — might face some “repercussions” for choosing “love over work.”
Brody’s real-life love, Meester, 38, will be introduced to fans as Abby, a former “nemesis” of Joanne’s from middle school.
While speaking to Extra at the 2025 SAG Awards — where Nobody Wants This was nominated in two categories — Bell shared more insight into the cast’s dynamic with the addition of her former Gossip Girl costar Meester.
“To be honest, and [this is] annoying to say, but it’s always delicious,” she gushed on Sunday, February 23. “This cast is really close, we have a very active text chain, sometimes too active, a lot of people making jokes, and I mean, folding Leighton into it just seems natural and wonderful.”
Nobody Wants This season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
