Patrick Mahomes predicts that Taylor Swift’s brand-new album will soon be heard throughout Kansas City Chiefs headquarters.
The Chiefs quarterback, 30, spoke about The Life of a Showgirl during a Thursday, October 2 appearance on the radio show 96.5 The Fan, saying, “I haven’t been able to hear the album yet, but I’m super-excited to be able to do that. And it’ll be blaring all through the Chiefs facility tomorrow. We’ll be supporting Taylor.”
Patrick said the pop star had “put in so much hard work” and he looked forward to tuning into her 12th album “just like everybody else” on its release day.
Swift, 35, issued The Life of a Showgirl at the stroke of midnight on Friday, October 3, and in it, she makes multiple references to Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ tight end and her fiancé.
The opening song,“The Fate of Ophelia,” is inspired by Kelce’s attempt two years ago to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City.
“I heard you calling / On the megaphone / You wanna see me all alone,” she sings, later referencing the Chiefs on the lyric “I pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes.”
Meanwhile, fans have sensed a connection between the Showgirl track “Cancelled!” and Patrick’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, who befriended Swift after she began dating Kelce, 35, in 2023. Some Swifties have objected to their friendship, arguing that the singer should not bring someone with apparently different political leanings into her inner circle.
“It’s easy to love you when you’re popular / The optics click, everyone prospers / But one single drop you’re off the roster / Tone-deaf and hot, let’s f***ing off her,” Swift croons.

In other verses, she declares that she prefers her friends “cooked in Gucci and in scandal,” which might refer to her highly photographed outing to the U.S. Open with a designer clothing-clad Kelce, Patrick and Brittany last year.
Swift recently helped celebrate Brittany’s 30th birthday in Nashville, and when she announced her engagement to Kelce in late August, Brittany shared praise via her Instagram Story, writing, “Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love.”
In early 2024, an insider told Us Weekly that the women “have a really genuine friendship and love hanging out at the games together and cheering on their men. Brittany loves that Taylor is dating Travis, and she’s so supportive of their relationship. They have a very similar sense of humor and are always cracking jokes and laughing.”
