Police are sharing new details about Hulk Hogan’s final moments before his death.
“Clearwater Fire Department and Clearwater Police Department personnel responded to a medical call at 9:51 a.m. today in the 1000 block of Eldorado Avenue on Clearwater Beach,” the Clearwater Police Department shared via Facebook on Thursday, July 24. “The nature of the call was for a cardiac arrest.”
Police confirm Hogan was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews “before being taken by Sunstar to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.” He was 71.
An official cause of death has yet to be announced.
News of Hogan’s death comes after Us Weekly confirmed in June that the WWE Hall of Famer was recovering from a major operation on his heart.
“Hulk had pretty serious heart surgery a few weeks ago and was doing well afterward,” a source shared with Us in June. “It wasn’t a near-death thing.”
Days before Hogan’s death, Fox Nation signed its second deal in the live sports arena as the exclusive broadcast partner for the wrestler’s Real American Freestyle (RAF).

“Real American Freestyle is creating something that’s never been done before, and we needed a partner that understood that and could build with us,” Hogan said in a statement to Variety on Tuesday, July 22. “Fox Nation is synergistic with our brand, they appreciate the importance of bringing this sport to the masses and they believe in our goal.”
Hogan was best known for his career as a professional wrestler. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 before being briefly removed in 2015 after a leaked recording surfaced of him using a racial slur.
He was later inducted a second time in 2020, with the WWE eventually announcing a partnership with Hulk’s Real American Beer.
“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” the WWE said in a statement to Us on Thursday. “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends and fans.”
Other fans met the athlete through his VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best.
Beginning in 2005, cameras rolled as Hulk shared his family life, which included ex-wife Linda Hogan, daughter Brooke Hogan and son Nick Hogan. The show ran for four seasons before Hulk pursued other projects, including an acting career that included a guest role in The Goldbergs.
