Prince William proved that royal family members can be just like Us — especially when there’s alcohol involved.
William, 42, attended the Royal Cornwall Show on Friday, June 6, alongside aunt Duchess Sophie. While the duo were touring different stands at the fairgrounds, they came across a booth that offered a shot of gin.
“I can see what today’s going to be like,” William joked before taking the shot with Sophie, 60, who went in for some more of the beverage. While Sophie seemed unphased by the classic alcohol burn, William’s face choking down the shot was caught by cameras.
William seemed to have a hard time swallowing the shot, grabbing at his chest in one image after he clinked glasses with Sophie and poured the spirit down the hatch.
“I’ve been caught out with whisky a few too many times,” William quipped. “I think I can do that, and then, oh no, I couldn’t.”
William and Sophie’s outing on Friday marked their first joint public appearance in two years.
The Prince of Wales appeared to be all smiles as he posed alongside various royal watchers during the event despite his ongoing family drama.
William returned to his royal duties this week following a brief break to spend time with Princess Kate Middleton and their three kids, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10 and Prince Louis, 7.
While William has yet to directly acknowledge his ongoing feud with brother Prince Harry, he did appear to hint at the rift while visiting the Army Air Corps in Suffolk, England, on Wednesday, June 4.
“Is the pace of life good at the moment?” William asked a group of soldiers. One was quick to say it’s a “mixed bag,” which kicked off a conversation about family.
“Family’s OK? See you enough?” William continued. “Some of them might not want to see you that much. It’s a mixed bag sometimes.”
William’s comment comes just after Us Weekly confirmed that the feud between him and Harry, 40, has deepened as of late — especially after the Duke of Sussex’s bombshell BBC interview last month.
“There is no relationship,” a source told Us in this week’s cover story of the brothers. “There is no turning back for William. The door is firmly shut.”
Harry pleaded for a reconciliation with his family during an interview released on May 2 after losing his appeal for government-funded security in the U.K., claiming that his father, King Charles III, “won’t speak to me” at the moment.
“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” he said. “It would be nice to reconcile.”
